I could use some fresh melons. The ones on my shelf are beginning to soften as they ripen. But fresh melons are very expensive! Have you priced them at the grocery store, lol?

Thats funny, we were looking at melons not long ago. DH likes the huge ones but I've always heard their not as good as the smaller, sweeter ones. But who knows. Since he's paying for them, I guess he can have some say.

and yeah - it's funny who can talk melons...... we have a HUGE one sitting on my kitchen table...I mean HUGE! was only $3.99 at Publix....gotta love it!

water melon gets messy..lol.. we prefer that the mess stays out doors, but we do eat it indoors.. in fact,, 1/2 of one of the melons is sitting on a towel in front of me now,,

We're finishing our second melon. I'll tell you, they don't last long around here. They're small melons, though. I wish we could get some nice, large melons like I remember when I was a kid. The one we had a few days ago was a little larger and tastier, or so I thought.

Now see I like the small melons. Starting back when I was pregnant, I could lift them myself with no "issues" and they fit in the fridge with out taking up the whole thing.

We need to come up with a better system though. Every time I buy one DH and I just end up kicking it around the kicthen until one of us gets sick of it and cuts it up and eat it.

We are talking about watermelon, cantalop and honeydew right?

No rain for us today, just wicked hot! My indoor outdoor thermonitor said 103.5. How crazy is that? I think it was only around 95 in all actuality though.

I couldn't lift my melons when I was pregnant--maybe I wasn't taking the right prenatal vitamins.

Speaking of watermelons, we've always called them babies because for some reason when Jake was a baby he called one a baby. So whenever we buy one we carry it in and cradle it like a baby. Guests would think that we're a bit strange. Of course we are! You should have seen our kitten stalking the first one of the season the other day. Of course (of course, meaning knowing me...) I got in back of the watermelon and made it roll when the cat got close, scaring the heck out of the cat.
