There is no way in the world I'd ever pay $500 for a table. NO WAY!

So, we built our own. For under $30. :)

Pottery Barn's Hyde console table:

Ours (excuse the cruddy decor, I just threw some stuff up there to mess with):

We got the plans from this cool site called Knock Off Wood. Super easy to make. We're making the coffee table next!

I love Knock-Off Wood!!! I found it about a month ago and read it religiously. I'm currently building a bookshelf/train table wall system for my son, but it's taking me a lot longer to finish than I anticipated. Mostly because we don't have a garage and I'm having to do all of my building and painting on our dining room table.

Your table looks great!

Beautiful! I am impressed by the fact that you saw something you wanted.. and then made it happen by doing the work. That is very, very cool.

I am sure the coffee table will be awesome!

Looks amazing:thumbsup2.....and the price is even better! You'll have to post pics when you're done the coffee table

That is so cool!!!! It looks exactly the same!!!!

Great job! and thanks for the web info. DH and i really want the mudroom lockers from Pottery Barn but don't want to pay the price either. I'll have to see if they have them on that website. Thanks!:thumbsup2

Beautiful. Thanks for the site information. I'll have to show my husband. :thumbsup2

Awesome! Fabulous! I've looked at her site many times but haven't attempted anything yet. You've given me inspiration! Make sure you submit it to the site brag board. You did a great job!

Holy smokes that looks fantastic!

I too am having a hard time with the pottery barn prices for a sofa table.
So really how hard was it to do? And did you do it or DH? I am pretty handy.

That is awesome! Congrats on your great work and I'll be checking out that site later today....

Looks really great!

DH has done some woodworking like that, and it always amazes me the prices stores charge for things like that, especially the more simple things that don't take a lot of time to make. They have a huge, huge mark up.

Great job! I'd like to see the coffee table when it's done. Thanks for the name of the website too. :)

Awesome job on the table! :thumbsup2

We've done the same thing with some Pottery Barn items. Most recently we saw something at Pottery Barn for Kids. It was a butterfly made out of buttons on canvas. I think they wanted over $100.00 for it! DW went home, and recreated it for about $10.

Where there's a will, there's a way!
