Anyone visiting the U.S join the criminal line please

Hmm.. Just because you have nothing to hide doesn't mean you should be treated like a criminal. I'll go along with fingerprinting but something like bloodtesting would scare the bejeezus out of me and IMO contravenes human rights.. It's the same reason I don't agree with ID cards but that's a whole other debate :scared:
I'm glad I don't live in the US, and I really hope this country doesn't go the same way in this respect.. *gets off soapbox*

Ditto

I dont mind either. If it makes a safer country for them and safer for us then so be it. I had a discussion with my bil who is going to WDW for the first time in May. He was shocked to hear he had to have his fingers scanned and picture taken. He said I am british. I replied that doesnt mean a thing. Anyone can get a british passport if they are a british citizen. It does not mean your are not a terrorist just because you are british :confused3 anyway we had a discussion he was moaning about human rights and I said that comment is used so often now that no one I know takes that comment seriously. I think we all should go along with whatever USA wants us to do to enter thier country. If you dont like it, then dont go. Simple as that.!

I am off to NYC in March they can do whatever they want within reason LOL :rotfl:

Does this apply to Canadians as well?

I think we have it the easiest by far! (though they are now starting to change that...passports are beginning to be required for Canadians arriving by certain modes of transportation).

The Americans have a long way to go before they catch up on the draconian "Security" measures we have in the UK!

Ignore ID cards for the moment, we already have as much information swimming about with just your normal Credit cards, Driving licences, store cards etc..
We have more CCTV cameras than any other country, we have a sytem called NPR- Number Plate Recognition tied to not just Police CCTV cameras, but to all CCTV systems, including Council ones and yes, even Supermarket car parks.

With the introduction of Road charging, they are going to fit your car with a tracking device and will have the power to entrer your vehicle at any time to make sure you have not tampered with it.

The latest "initiative" is that the Police are looking to have microphones attached to the CCTV units, first in London for the Olympics, that they will be able to evesdrop on conversations in public, just in case a problem occures and they can nip the potential fight/disturbance before it begins.

Anyone here read Orwells 1984???

My five year old has just had his next passport, a biometric one, and a nice little leaflet with it states that "From early 2007 if you are an adult (Over 16) applying for your first passport, you may need to attend an interview as part of the application process. In line with European Union standards, we are also considering including fingerprints in biometric passports in the future"

And you worry about the USA?
The majority of what our government is or is about to do would contravine their individual rights
