Wondering if Cypress Gardens would be worth a visit just after Thanksgiving? We have a day before our WDW visit is scheduled to begin and am considering a day trip to Cypress Gardens (would like to do something besides Disney). I've heard CG has an impressive Chrismas light display. Would appreciate any opinions.

Also, is there a separate charge to see the light display or is it included in the regular admission?

TIA for any and all comments!

Hi Carol! We've visited Cypress Gardens twice during the Christmas season and if you love the Christmasy atmophere and light displays then you'll love this park during the Christmas season.:D It really is gorgeous and we've never seen so many lights in one place! They also host the world largest Christmas tree and have a lovely tree lighting ceremony each night at dusk complete with carolers.

The gardens are also a sight to see. There is no extra charge to see the light display.....actually the lights are everywhere through the park with a separate garden area that is all lit up with storybook type of displays. You also get to watch the ski show and a really nice ice show plus a mini circus that performs throughout the day. It really is a nice place to visit and yes if we get back again during Christmas again we'll be making a 3rd visit!;) Hope this helps! :sunny:

Thanks so much for your reply! Can't wait to be there!

Cypress Gardens also brings in "golden oldie" entertainers---which is usually someone I grew up with---Glen Campbell, Kingston Trio---during the holiday period; which makes it more enjoyable for us.;)

This is getting even better. According to the Cypress Gardens web site, Glen Campbell will be there when we are visiting. Thanks for the "heads up", jctwizzer!

Yes when we were there Dec/2000 we saw The Lettermen and even though they were a little bit "before my time" LOL, I remember listening to them on TV and radio and really enjoyed them at Cypress Gardens!

As we were strolling through the gardens with the light displays one of the members of the group was talking with a few folks and he noticed I was videotaping and actually waved and spoke to us! We had a great time there and I hope you and your family do too!;)

Hmmm.....makes me wish I could go again at Christmas instead of next March!:)

The Lettermen are a little before my time, too (but not much, LOL). I'd love to see them, but they will be there the week after we're visiting.

Here's the concert schedule for November & December that I copied from the CG web site for anyone else who might be considering a visit -

BOWZER OF SHA-NA-NA
Nov 16-17, 2002

THE OAK RIDGE BOYS
Nov. 23-24, 2002

GLEN CAMPBELL
Nov. 30 & Dec. 1, 2002

THE LETTERMEN
Dec. 7-8, 2002

ELVIS CHRISTMAS TRIBUTE WITH AL HULL
Dec. 14-15, 2002

It was a nice surprise to find these concerts are included in the rice of admission.

Don't know if it's still in effect, but for an addl $10 per person last year, you could get a reserved seat.......we thought it was well worth it:p
