My DW and I are heading to WDW in September and she suffers from lymphoedema in both her legs. This causes her pain when she has to walk for distances or stand on her feet for a long time. We will be taking frequent stops to sit and rest while traveling around the parks, but I am wondering if there is anything she can do so she does not have to stand for long periods of time while waiting for attractions?

Normally the only thing that Guest Services recommends for mobility/stqamina problems is to rent a wheelchair or ECV. You might want to look at the "disABILITIES!" FAQ for more information, especially about renting from offsite.

I'm very much aware of lymphoedema, a dear friend of mine has this in both of her legs but one especially gives her alot of trouble, over the weekend she had to go to the emer. room the swelling got so bad. She has been almost bed ridden because of this. I would tell you and your wife to look into getting a GAC at customer services and be sure and get a scooter, she will need it. Take things slow and enjoy.

I'd also recommend getting an ECV or wheelchair. You might want to consider renting off site, especially if you're getting an ECV as the parks can run out of these. Also, if you rented off site, you could use it around the resort as well. If you're staying in a Disney hotels, the buses are great. As CheshireFigment said, the FAQ ( http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=595713 ) has lots of useful information on all these subjects.

Have a great holiday :goodvibes

i'd check out some of the off-site child wheelchair/stroller rentals, if you dont want to bring your own... you can get a GAC saying "stroller as wheelchair" which will allow you to bring it into things like small world, when they usually make you leave the stroller outside. walking at disney can get to "healthy" people!

If you rent an ECV, PLEASE practice at home first. I suggest going to a grocery store that has one on an uncrowded day and trying one out; then work your way up to Walmart on a Saturday afternoon. When we were at MGM, we observed an older couple where the husband was trying to figure out how to steer the EVC and the wife was "helping" him by yelling at him how to do it. WDW on a crowded day would be very stressful for a novice "driver."

There is information about GACs (Guest Assistance Cards) in the disABILITIES FAQs thread. You would probably be better off getting a wheelchair or ECV because the lines are just a small part of your day at WDW. You will spend at least as much time walking around getting from place to place as you will in line.
I'd also agree with the others about renting an ECV from one of the offsite places (the ones listed in the FAQs are the ones DIS posters most frequently have reported renting from.
