Anyone using WEBK8 code for National - price drop

Interestingly enough, this thread is the first I had heard of the WEBK8 code. I went to try changing my previous ressie to see what effect the code would have and it was already there. I know I did not put it in when I made the ressie a couple of months ago. They must automatically add it.

That code is an internal rate code which is automatically added with some reservations. I used a coupon from BJ's and the DC discount and when I checked the rate the above mentioned code was there.

Now that I've looked at it, the coupon does say in tiny print on the back that it is subject to availability, but then again it also says it may not be combined with other offers or discounts, and we know that's not true.

Like I said, this may go bad, but I feel confident that a full size will be available because that's what the reservation is for. Also, I've never seen National blink an eye at my reservations (I've never even needed to show the printout) and I've gotten some truly ridiculous deals on rental cars from this board and Mary's Mousesavers site.

Yes, you do, according to the coupon. In fact, the reservation site forced me to change service level from emerald reserve to counter in order to get the coupon upgrade accepted for the reservation.

That said, the last time I went to the counter with a National coupon they just patted me on the head and told me to go get my car and give the coupon to the booth attendant. Still, I'm not taking any chances, I'll head to the counter first.

Actually, I played around with my free double upgrade coupon from National and actually found where it said no cars available, so, my feeling is they know what is available for upgrades at the time of reservations.

As to blinking an eye, you are correct, they don't. But, I do caution you to bring the printout with you. I did have a bit of a problem with this last rental. Long story and everything did end up fine, but, it was a bit of a hassle and could have been avoided if the nitwit that checked the car out had plugged in the reservation number off the printout we handed her. Instead she made a new reservation to the tune of 404.00, just a bit higher than the 148.72 we had booked. Since they don't hand you a printout of the charges at the booth we were a bit shocked at the price. We like National and realize that mistakes happen. I emailed National regarding this issue and did receive a wonderful reply back and earlier this week we received a voucher for 50.00 (unexpected, unecessary, but very nice), and all I wanted was for the attendants to be trained properly. :) This is just a capsule edition of the entire story and only being used to illustrate that a printout is a handy thing to have. :)
