I just signed up for this with some AT&T Fiber, but I am having some reservations about it. I am a current U-Verse subscriber, but that service is pretty much defunct and going to be completely extinct in the nearish future. Anyway, AT&T has been giving me issues with incorrect information (like selling me a "box" that I simply do not need and giving incorrect return instructions). They're making it right, but it's been furstrating. I am more concerned though with the service quality. I am testing it out and it seems okay and has the channels I want, but I was jsu tlooking for thoughts while I can still fully cancel.

Thanks.

Yes, I was an early adopter. We had Uverse for a number of years but the monthly cost got too great and we cut the cord. After a couple of years I missed live sports and we went with the early version of DirecTV Stream.

We like it fine for the price. We get over 100 channels (the "Go Big" package) for about $70/month (we get a discount due to buying early and keeping the same contract). We have 2 homes in different states and can use it in both. We rarely have service interruptions, and the picture quality is good. The DVR capability is somewhat limited (20 hours, saved programs go away, no rewind) but you can get more capability for another $10/month if you want it.

Thanks. I appreciate the feedback. I have been fiddling around with it a bit today and I do like it. I really love the Bookmark feature for easily seeing a catalog of shows. It's a little cumbersome to navigate certian things thoug. Picture seems pretty good though. I will miss my Uverse DVR though and saving thigns forever - it currently has things recorded in 2014 on it! Still, almost anythihg can be found on the streaming services. I am getting hte lowest channel alotment but I don't need the sports nets. I mostly want networks and a few cable channels, liek the Disney suite especially. I am having AT&T Fiber installed tomorrow and I imagine it will perform even better once I get speed like that!

Also, can you calrify the "no rewind" thing? I seem to be able to do it. Are you using the box they tried to sell me, or another device? Thanks.

We had to switch over to DTvS when our promotion with Uverse ended Sept 2020. I don't like it as much as I did Uverse. I do like the 'unlimited' DVR, but things delete after a short period of time, watched or not. Also, we ended up 'buying' the box, because they claimed the Uverse one wouldn't work at all. Sometimes you can get shows to start from the beginning, if you pop over in the middle, but usually you can't.

The Uverse box wouldn't work, but I have a RokuTV and all you need is a Roku/Fire Stick/AppleTV type of device. The box tehy sell is basically one of those. It seems like recorded shows disappear after 90 days, yeah? That's not too bad, though I used to keep a few favorites handy. Then again, most anything is on a streaming service at this point.

We had ATT UVerse U300 and Internet Fiber 1000 for many years. On Jan 1st, we cut the cord (we'll almost).

Spent a good week comparing different Streaming options: DirectTV Stream, You Tube TV (YTTV), Hulu + Live, Sling, etc. We purchased 3 Roku units (Ultra, 2-Express 4K+) On sale and arrived 12/31. Set-up perfectly.

Decided on YTTV due to a T-Mobile $10/mt discount, reviews and Channel content. I have since stream lined our Live menu to only 42 of the 109 channels available. We were amazed how few channels we really want to watch these days. DirectTV Stream was a close second Option as well as the new Hulu + Live with Disney+ and ESPN bundle. They all come in within $5 of each other. The channel content is what meant the most for us, as well as reputation, ease of use and our daughters recommendations.

Trying to get rid of UVerse and just have AT&T Fiber Internet is a real struggle and PITA. Nobody at Customer Service will give you a straight answer, and the final costs are always higher than what they told you. I went from U300 to UBasic (not even going to use it!) and keeping the internet with free HBOMax for the same price as my previous Internet only, but for only 2 months. Then I need to start the process again. They emailed me and told me to NOT return the old equipment, just recycle it. Yep, AT&T really wants UVerse to just crawl away and die!

For the next year our Steaming line-up will save us $744, we'll have better control and options. We have also found the picture quality and sound to be much better on all three of our TV's than UVerse ever was.

For those that care, my Streaming Options and Monthly Costs:
AT&T Fiber Internet 1000: $60-$70 month (depends on how the haggling goes in a couple months)
YTTV: $55/12 months with T-Mobile's $10 off Promo, then $65/mt.
After one year, we will re-evaluate the Hulu+Live Bundle.
DirectTV Stream has taken a 3rd Place due to channel content.

HBOMax: Free with ATT&T Fiber 1000 Internet.
Netflix: $3/mt. T-Mobile Promo crediting $8/mt.
Paramount+: Free for 12 months with T-Mobile Promo.
Discovery+: $5/month. [for Oak Island and Battlebots]
Disney+: $8/month.
AMC+: $2/mt with new user Promo.
Starz: $9/mt once Outlander new series start.

Yeah, I hope getting rid of my Uverse won't be an issue. I have not been too impressed with AT&T Customer Service so far.

I waill say that I've been using the DirecTV Stream tonight and I am liking it. I was a little concerned, but it works well and is not too different from having traditional linear TV (which I like). I think I will be happy with it.
