I was not sure what board to post this on but I thought this seemed like a good one since everyone was talking autograph books and such.

I notice alot of people have mentioned using the Disney Junior Encyclopedia of Animated Characters for autographs books and I know everyone mentions it is really big and bulky on Hardback.

I noticed Amazon is selling them on paperback ... has anyone used this version for an autograph book? Is it just as big and heavy?

Product Dimensions: 10.8 x 7.9 x 0.6 inches
Paperback: 192 pages
Shipping Weight: 1.6 pounds

I love this idea but Dont want to be lugging around a huge heavy book all day because between the 3 of us (me , hubby and daughter8) We only plan to carry 2 very small bags If even the 2 (no stroller) The baggallini Zip 'n Go Zip & Go (optional depending how much the Camelback backpack holds) & a small Camelback backpack
(i have a back-up already I just "Princessed" up a book of 4x6 spiral bound plain index cards and plan to put it in a photo album with photos when we get home) but i really like the idea of using the Encyclopedia . I am thinking I am gonna buy it anyways bc I think daughter would enjoy looking at it... but just wondering if anyone has used it

We used it on our last trip in 2010. I ordered it from abc distributing and it was pretty inexpensive. My kids are older and not really into the characters as much as I know my younger nieces were. We only brought it with us to the character meals we had scheduled. It was a great conversation piece and many of the characters wanted to read the description of them. The Mad Hatter was really funny when he read his description.

When we did carry it with us, we had one of those drawstring backpacks that I had the boys carry. We also kept it in a large ziploc to keep it protected when on water rides. It worked out pretty well, although it can be a pain to carry around. I do plan to bring it with us on our upcoming trip, but will only bring it to character meals.

Yeah I see alot of people talking about ordering it there or lakeside (i couldnt find it on either of the sites anymore) the paperback version is about $11 on amazon plus shipping.

Did you leave it as is or did you take it and have it spiral bound?

Just got ours back from FedEx / Kinko's today. I added Rapunzel & Flynn Rider pages. Yes they are big and heavy. I'll have a backpack and my wife will have a messenger bag. Books we're about $11 and spent about $12 per book on coil binding and laminating.

just so i understand 100%... u had the pages laminated before you went to the park and had the characters autograph their page?

I have one of those in paperback. I had never though about taking it. Thanks for the info.

I am new to the site and this is my first post so I hope I am doing this correctly! :) I too am looking at doing the same with the book. Not sure if we will coil bind it yet or not but would love to find some extra pages to add of the newer characters. Does anyone have these to share or could point me in the right direction to find some? TIA!!

Also interested in addional pages for characters not in book. Ideas?

This is a great idea! Do you just laminate the covers? Who are the extra pages to add?

I was wondering if any of you found direction as to where to find the additional pages for the Encyclopedia book? Wondering about Doc McStuffins and Mary Poppins?
