I have DING! on my computer and I think Southwest is going to be the best way to go. I see they have their cheapest fares which are called Gotta 9Got to) Get Away. They're SO inexpensive it makes me worry their really legit. Am I going to get to the airport and find the seat are so cheap because I'm risking not even getting a seat?

Also anyone familiar with kids' fares or group (10 or more) rates on Southwest? Are they more economical they the Get Away fares?

I am not familiar with group rates but have used the Gotta Get Away flights and I can assure you you will get a seat! They are probably trying to sell out that flight so act fast :)

We always book SW Air because it's affordable
and you can Check-in 24 Hours prior to boarding
and this will determine your spot in line.
I just Checked in this morning for a Flight tomorrow morning
and got "A" boarding Group which you can be some
of the 1st on the plane and choose what seats you
want to sit in. There are 3 Boarding Groups A-B-C.
We got "C" coming home for WDW last Trip because
we didn't check in online before.
We've always had everything go well with SW--
the Flight Attendants Sing to us over the intercom when landing--
they are Characters.

I've flown Southwest before, and I liked them as well!

But "DING!" is new to me. If someone doesn't mind backtracking a little - what does it do, and how did you sign up for it?

Thanks.

Ding is a program you download that basically connects your computer to SW, so a little icon on your computer "dings" (like the sounds you hear on an airplane when they make an announcement, or someone calls the flight attendant) audibly (and the icon changes visually) when they put out a really low/special fare.

OP, the wanna get away fares are totally legit. SW is a good airline, has been in business for a long time.

The little kid fares are usually a discount off of the full fares, and generally the "get away" fares are better. I don't know anything about group rates.

You can download DING! right from the Southwest website. You enter your preferred airports of departue and arrival. Then it sits patiently on your desktop tool bar and...you guessed it...Dings when Southwest has some insanely low promotional fare. :woohoo: You really have to jump on them because you often only have hours to take advantage of them. I've come to really enjoy my Ding. :lmao:

We almost always fly SW because of their low fares. The last time we flew to Orlando, I was lucky enough to get a DING! for flights that were $50 roundtrip. Since I was paying for 6 people, that definitely was a savings!!:dance3: I'm holding out for a DING right now for Tampa in Dec., but I am afraid it's going to be too close to Christmas to get what I need.

Totally legit, use them all the times. I haven't seen DING fares lower than the Gotta Get Away Fars in months between PHL/MCO.

The child fares are discounted off of the full fare price....usually the other options are much cheaper.
