Anyone used Sprint phones at WDW?

We're coming down from Michigan. I was planning on using our cell phones to keep in touch during our trip (my 2 older sons have them as do DH & I). However, I've read on a couple posts about trouble people have had with cell phones down there. Has anyone else used Sprint? Problems or not? We can bring our walkie talkies as a backup if necessary but seem to have so much trouble with those (even though we have the expensive 8 mile range ones) at every park! Thanks!

I use mine all the time (probably too much as clients don't stop calling :smooth: ), I have had the occassional problem inside certain building (mostly my resort room at OKW) but generally I am good

My work phone is Sprint and experienced no problems with getting service. We were in WDW in December.

Thanks

Rob

One more person who uses sprint at wdw with absolutely no problems. Quite frankly, you can hear a pin drop.

I use my Sprint phone when I am down there and yes there are rides in which you are roaming, but really you won't be on your phone there anyways. No problems at Universal studios either.

I use a Sprint phone. The signal will fade on attractions, and a lot of times I can't get a signal inside a hotel room. If I'm walking around the parks, the signal is fine. I tell people that if they are calling me if I don't answer, leave a voice mail. So, I'd suggest making sure you all have your voicemail set up and you know how to use it so that you can leave messages if you are out of range for a few.

Thanks everyone - we should be good since I have had my phone for years and my oldest, who got his for Christmas, already knows how to do tons of stuff that I've never figured out in the years I've had mine! My other son doesn't know much about how to use it other than in an emergency, so I'll go over basics with him. Our phones also show you missed calls, so I should be able to tell if they called me even if they don't leave messages. DH & my oldest's are the ones where you can take and send pictures/videos, etc., so DS plans to send Dad pics of us on all the attractions while Dad's stuck in his convention! I know they can do it since Dad's in Oklahoma today and sent my son a pic of a huge armadillo they saw on the road!

Anyways - thanks a lot everyone. We'll be using them mostly to try to have DH hook up with us at a park after his meetings, or in case the two older boys want to split off for a little.

merciemi-I'm from Michigan too. I'm in Allen Park-where are you at?

My phone works in open areas of WDW, but not so well in the hotel rooms (OKW< BCV< CBR). As long as you're outside (or leaning way over the edge of the balcony!) you can get a signal. You shouldn't have any problems while you're there.

We'll be arriving on the 18th-maybe we'll see you there!! If we don't, have a great trip! It will be so much better in FL than this nasty weather we're having here. (What is the story with this weather, anyway? It snows, then it rains with 50-degree weather, now tonight it's thunderstorms and this weekend it's going back down to 14 degrees? It's like someone is trying to get us sick right before we go!)

I'm a Sprint user too and agree with much of what has been posted above. You mentioned that you've had your Sprint phone for years--well, my old Sprint phone gave me all kinds of grief at WDW--but my new one with the camera etc works very well. So be prepared for the possibility that your older phone may not do as well as the newer models.

Thanks for all the help - I'm also worried about my phone, which is the older model. If worse comes to worse, guess DS can always call DH in his meetings! When your phone is on roam, you can still use it can't you? Or is the connection really bad? We have this new plan that allows unlimited roaming at no charge, so I'm not worried about the cost, just the connection! Thanks again!

Sorry - didn't answer the question - I'm from Berkley (near Royal Oak), but my husband works in Woodhaven down your way. Have to agree with your weather comments. I'm watching the weather down there avidly and the forecasts are changing faster than I can change my packing plans. I won't even go into here - 56 this morning, 9 Monday when we leave? What to wear on the plane that I can haul around WDW (ie no winter coats)? Thinking LS t-shirts, hooded polartecs, mittens and windbreakers?!

We have Sprint Phones and they worked fine in the parks and at the resort we stayed at.

My office is in Royal Oak on Washington! We go down to D'Amatos a lot for dinner/drinks!

This weather-I'm not sure what to say about it anymore. It literally has me speechless. At this point I'm hoping my kids don't get sick from this drastic change in temps! I wonder sometimes if any other state in the U.S. has weather problems like this!

I'm wondering what to wear on the plane, too. Do we wear all our 'winter gear' to FL, or leave it in the car when we're dropped off? I'm afraid if I don't take it we'll hit a cold spell in FL and need those winter coats! We're wearing khakis and short sleeved shirts under our coats. Maybe we'll leave just the scarves at home but take the mittens and hats!

Let's hope for 80 degree weather next week!! Have a great trip! :flower:

We also have older Sprint phones and we get great signals while outside and a decent signal while in the resorts. I haven't ever looked inside rides since I am usually preoccupied with other things.

Just updating this for everyone now that we're back. It was much as people said. My phone worked most of the time (older Sprint one), however when we were in World Showcase in Epcot, my husband kept calling and when I'd answer I couldn't hear him. He then called my son (both with newer phones) and they had no trouble talking. This was the only problem we had while there! Thanks for the heads ups!
