My dd is 4 and quite easily scared. (She was terrified on the Cat in the Hat last year, and it really threw her trust of most rides - it took numerous rides on Its a small world to get her to even try the Pooh Bear ride, which she did enjoy in the end).

We don't mind this, and are quite happy to do the safe/fun rides with her, but I would quite like to see Fantasmic and I don't think she would enjoy it.

I was thinking of letting her go to the Simba's clubhouse at the AKL (where we will be staying) while DH and I go to MGM and see Fantasmic.
She's quite happy to go to day care/creche type places, so I think she will be fine at Simba's, but I was wondering if anyone had tried it, and also how far you can go, is it feasible to go to MGM or would we be better just going for a meal at the AML (Jiko's?).

We just used Simbas club for my 4 and 7yo. They loved it! They do projects, watch a movie and make new friends! The women who were the caretakers were very plesant and like "grandmothers". If your heart is set on Fantasmic it would be a good idea. Then you could also have some adult time in the park to do RNRC and TOT. I believe it opens at 4:30 pm with no time limit. We took them there to have an "adult" meal at Jiko. There were plenty of kids at Jiko so if your on a budget I would take her along to jiko and have her go to Simbas for Fantasmic.

I am thinking of using Simba's when we dine at Bomas. Do you have to be a guest at AKL to use this service? How much does it cost per child, per hour?

Thanks,
Kimberly

The cost is $8/hr per child. Boma is VERY casual. I think for kids to eat at Bomas it around 10.00. At simba's clb they get dinner on the hour I believe its at 6, 7 and 8 pm. an hour and half cost me 24.oo for my two DD's . It would have cost that much to feed them at Jiko plus they had much more fun! You need to be a onsite resort guest to use the child care service. It books quickly so if your cosidering it I would book now. It does require a CC hold!

How far in advance can I book the childcare club? I think I will definitely book if for one night.
Now, I just have to decide what we will do with our time!

I have heard that off-site guests can also use the child care facillities, but I'm not sure how that works.

This past June, my 5 yr old DD stayed here and LOVED it!! We let her go to Simba's while we had dinner at BOMA's. The ladies that were watching the kids were wonderful, Allison got to choose what she wanted for dinner (hotdog, ff, choc milk). She colored (with markers, her absolute favorite), played some games, and watched a movie. She really enjoyed herself there (she was only there for an hour) and she is asking to go back when we go back. I would highly recommend Simba's. We weren't guests of AKL, we were staying at the Swan; I called in advance to reserve her a spot and I did have to give a credit card.
Again, we were very pleased with Simba's!!!
