Just got a reasonable quote for a fly-drive with VA next August with Funway - anyone out there ever used them?

Yes we are useing them for flydrives in December. The price for Virgin flights is really good.

The only tiny problem we have found is that they wouldn't pass our names only Virgin until after 180 days to departure even though Virgin had changed their booking rule. We couldn't book the seats we wanted when the new rule started although we have booked some now.(not the ones we wanted). I suppose you can't have everything for under 300 pounds for Christmas Virgin flights.

We found the man I spoke to extreemly helpful. He saved us alot of money by going 2 days earlier, which we wouldn't have known about. If you want me to I'll search out his name and phone number. pm me if you like.

We are in the process of booking flights with Funway for Dec05. The contract they have with Virgin is really good. They get an allocation of seats that they can do what they like with. Most tour operators have to book when the flights become available at the 11 months, even though they will sell the seats in advance. The contract they have now states that you must either take the insurance for the car or book min 3 days accomadation. It works well for us because we needed 3 nights somewhere anyway.

The price we got was £324 per adult, £224 per child, £100 car rental and whatever accomadation we chose. This is flying out for 25 nights. I thought this was a good price considering VH wanted £499 and £349 for their flights.

The lady I spoke to was really helpful and phoned back with info when asked. Once the booking form comes through I will be signing on the dotted line!

Also you can still get miles with these flights I checked with the flying club. Funway issue an X class ticket with is fine.

:D Thanks Charlottebetty and DisneyBB - very useful:D

I've only priced up myself online so far, but will definitely ring them today. Since we have to go next August, it's all a bit of a shock with the pricing:eek: But as I am now a school secretary, my holidays are not my own anymore, in other words gone are the days when we used to travel out in May and October:(

Charlottebetty - I did try to PM you, but system says you're not accepting any. Please could you PM me with the info on your contact at Funways?

Thanks again::yes::

I just got a quote from Funway which no one else could match but I ama bit wary as I had never heard of them before. Has anyone actually travelled with them yet?

I must be missing something!

I looked at Funway, and Virgin, and for the dates that we are looking at, Funway is £680 cheaper than Virgin. However the Virgin price includes the Ultimate Park Hopper pass. So I figure that by the time we have paid for our tickets, the Funway price would probably work out more expensive than Virgin!

Can I be nosey and ask how much the flydrives with Funway are for August? I can't seem to get anywhere on their website!

DH works in the travel industry and managed to get hold of some free flights for our trip in a fortnight, but we are planning on returning next August. However, all the flight prices I have seen have been £800+ for economy!

Thankyou
:wave2:

Catherine,
Are you sure the virgin quotes icludes the Ult pass? in the brochure they ar now in addition,
Funway quoted me £525 for ret on 30th july not yet confirmed to manchester though confirmred for gatwick ???????????

I have used Funways twice to book my Virgin flights/holiday to Orlando. As has been said you have to book car hire or 3 nights accomodation as well.

They have always been cheaper than booking direct with Virgin, mad I think! When i worked at Thomas Cook, Funway was often used it is a well known, well established company and is known for being reliable and competetive:teeth:

I did have the same thing happen as CharlottBetty with them not releasing the flight info to Virgin so I could pre-book my seats early.

We have just returned from a 3 week holiday with Funway and would use them again. The main issue we had was the pre-booked seats, which Virgin changed after we had booked them through Funway. However, having spoken to several holidaymakers who booked direct with Virgin, they had the same problem.

I would stongly recommend using the twilight check-in if you are flying from Gatwick. We turned up just as it opened and were 2nd in the queue. (Compared to the hundred plus in the queue the following morning!) We were able to change the pre-book seats to some better seats.

You can also use the Downtown Disney check-in, although you will need to pay $5 per person if you have not booked direct with Virgin.

Poet, I just checked Virgin's website again, and it does say that
When booking a Disney hotel online the Ultimate Park Hopper Ticket is included in the price of your holiday.

Hi, We used Funway last year and they were fine. We didn't fly with Virgin though - we went with American Airlines as they had a huge discount for a 3 week holiday. It was indirect flights, though it was worth the inconvenience for the price we paid.

just had a quote of £2972 for 16 nights in july 4 adults 1 child inc 4x4 jeep with fully ins all taxes from Funway. Nearest other quote was £3252. Flying Virgin. Virgin holidays direct quoted me £3854 for the same package without tickets!!!!!!!!!!! big difference.
Just need reassurance that Funway are reputable and ABTA bonded, still if we pay by CC we are covered so??/

WOW that's great!! :hyper: I think that I'm going to give them a call and see what they can do for us! ::yes::

My quote with Funway was £642 each (three of us, 2 adults one 12 year old counts as adult now:mad: ) for the flights on Virgin, and £448 for car hire for the sixteen nights incl gold insurance package (the all bells and whistles cos we both drive). The grand total was £2374. The cheapest I could get with Virgin Hols was £2406, and that's including my 10% frequent virgin club and £150 vouchers!! So guess who we're using:D

Funway also quoted £339 for round trip Premium Economy each. Virgin's cheapest was £500.

Have you booked though? they said we needed to wait till the reurn leg flights were out in Aug? so I am frightened of missing out

Another one here who has used Funway before (and would be happy to do so again).

We booked our flights with them a few years ago (BA, I think) and found them helpful as well as competitive on price :)
