They are a new style to me anyway. My appliances are nearly 20 years old ;) I am talking about the standard size range that has smallish oven on top and decent oven below it. Thinking about it, but not sure because it is NEW to me.

We just got one 6 months ago and I would never go back. Probably 98% of the cooking gets done in the top oven-which means heating less space, less cost, and faster heating time. Not to mention the convenience of cooking more than one thing at a time for bigger meals like Thanksgiving.
Double Ovens are AWESOME

When my oven goes, I am so getting one of these. They cost more money than a regular stove but I'm sure it saves some energy costs using the small oven for the majority of your baking.

Looking forward to the reviews posted.

We have one and love it. Also, if you do the duel fuel, the top can be gas and the stove electric. The top stove then becomes a toaster oven, so no longer need a separate toaster and can cook things quickly in the top oven that you would use a toaster oven for (reheat pizza, etc.). I will miss our stove when we move (relocating to Canada in the next month).

We got a Maytag Gemini in 2001 and  it. I too mostly cook/bake in the top oven. It's so nice to have the two ovens when baking cookies, I get done in half the time. Ours is electric with the smooth top. I always had gas tops growing up but I love the electric smooth top now. Never any issues and a double oven is all I'll ever have.

Gosh I want one so bad, I am really all you guys like yours.

My friend got one a few months ago. She loves it:love: she uses the top one most of the time.

Wow! I've never seen those before. We have the "old school" double ovens in the wall with a cooktop on our island. But I can see the benefit of the ones you mention!!!

I so want one! DH wanted to put in a double wall oven when we re-do the kitchen. I told him it was a waste, the only time I need two ovens is over the holidays, the rest of the time I could probably make do with the smaller top oven.

I'm looking forward to more reviews!

Question, if you have both ovens running, do you find the top oven gets too hot, because of the bigger oven below? Or do they maintain their own temps pretty well?

I have a Maytag Gemini that I have had a for a couple of years now and I love it. I use the small oven 95% of the time. The only time I have used the bottom was when I have had Thanksgiving to cook my turkey in.

We got one when I was about 10 years old (45 years ago). Couldn't believe it when I got married and wasn't able to buy one. Now they are the latest and greatest "new thing." Wish I was in a position to get one.

I'm in the market for a double oven free standing range too (as well as a dishwasher and stackable washer and dryer). Anyone have any good suggestions on where to buy the appliances at the best price? I can wait till labor day if the deals are any better then? Its been awhile since I shopped for appliances (10 years). Thanks! :goodvibes

I have the Maytag double oven also and love, love, love it!!! I don't know how I ever cooked with just one oven. Most of the time, I just use the top oven. However, when I am cooking for a crowd the bottom oven is wonderful to have. The only exception is I usually do my baking using my bottom oven (convect bake), since it seems like the top oven doesn't cook as evenly with certain things.

We bought our appliances at Sears when they were having a sale and an additional 30% off if you bought over a certain $ amount. If you had a Sears card you could also get 0% interest for six months which was an added bonus.

I too have the Maytag Gemini and LOVE IT!!! I do a lot of baking and the two ovens very handy for me. i use the top oven the most as it takes less time to heat that oven, Id say no more than two minutes. and big holiday dinners are amazing. You can bake the turkey or ham in the bottom and then all the fixings in the smaller oven on top. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!!

Nope I never have a problem with the top oven getting too hot, they have two separate heating elements(not sure elements is the right word?) so you can have the top on say 250 and the bottom on 450 and everything will turn out fine. It's especially nice having the smaller top oven in the summer when you don't want all the heat!!

my stove top gets a little warm, but never hot to the touch. The two ovens maintain their temps very well. I love mine.

Another huge Maytag fan here! I have had double wall ovens in the last two of my homes and did not have room for them in my current home. Love, love, love this double oven, particularly in my small kitchen. If I ever move, I will buy the same oven again or take this one with me.

Just be aware that some of the double oven stoves only have warmer ovens below. The Maytag has a full size oven with a small size, fully functioning second oven on top. The small oven preheats in a few minutes and cooks most of my dishes, using less energy than a full-size oven. However, having both ovens for company and/or holidays is incredible. I shopped around and found Sears to offer the best deal on my stove, but that was years ago.
