I was planning a trip to NY and with Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty closed indefinately am thinking of cancelling. I have tickets to Mary Poppins, Newsies and Chaplin..I see StubHub is owned by Ebay and is an Ebay company, but when I try to find out how they actually work for sellers..fees, etc. it asks me to register. Anyone know anything about this company and how it works?

I used Stub Hub last year to sell tickets I had purchased for a performance of How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying (Darren Criss had taken over the lead role and the tickets were my then 18-year-old daughter's Christmas present) and a work commitment required me to purchase tickets for a different night (new tickets were purchased from the theatre box office --not through Stub Hub).

The process as I recall was after registering and setting up an account (including information on where your payment should be sent) and reviewing the various requirements, you enter information about the tickets (number you have, type of ticket (hard ticket or print out version) performance date, time, etc.) and note your selling price. The site provides information on pricing by other sellers for guidance.

My tickets were purchased within 48 hours after registering. My sale price was the face value of the tickets (my goal was to sell the tickets and not try to make extra profit) and so I took a small hit once Stub Hub's processing charge was calculated after receiving the sales notice, shipping instructions were provided and I needed to send the tickets (I had actual tickets purchased from the theatre's box office) to the buyer via Fed-Ex within a specified timeframe. I was paid promptly by Stub Hub once the buyer confirmed receipt of the tickets.

I would use Stub Hub again to re-sell theatre tickets I could no longer use.

Bad experience.

They double charged our credit card, not once, but TWICE for the same transaction. They gave us the runaround, blaming our credit card company for the double charge. It was a nightmare. Took over a month to get the money credited, and numerous phone calls to both our credit card company and StubHub.

We will never use them again.

I used StubHub once to sell Taylor Swift tickets because she added a concert closer to our home and we bought tickets to attend the closer one instead. I priced them just enough above face value to cover the fees and they sold quickly. I shipped the tickets off to the buyer and got paid - it was painless.

I know of one person who bought concert tickets on StubHub and had a good experience, but we haven't bought anything through them.

Used StubHub several times to both buy and sell tickets and never had a problem. One thing, as a PP stated, watch the fees as both the buyer and seller pays a fee. I think the seller's fee is 10%.

I should add that I have mixed emotions about StubHub. It is great when you need to sell tickets, but unless I get a good deal, I will not buy from them. Their existence (and other sites like them) is legitimizing scalping and driving up the price of concert tickets. Because of them, it is nearly impossible to buy tickets to a popular concert at face value.

I've bought tickets from them twice and sold a set once. All times, we had absolutely no issues at all. I e-mailed customer service regarding a question, and had a response within a few hours!

You get e-mail updates as things are progressing (tickets sold/bought, when they are shipped, etc.).

The seller and buyer fee is about 10%. Yes, it's steep, but they do break it down for you before you actually pay or sell.

No issues at all, and will be using them again (reminds me...I need to buy dd 1D tickets soon).
