Does anyone use these when they pack for the World? If you do, are you able to find a vacuum at your resort with the appropriate attachements to pack them for the trip home? Specifically at WL or VWL?

Mods: Move this if you see fit! I didn't know where to post it! :confused3

You can buy Space Saver bags specifically for luggage. You just put your clothes in and roll them to get the air out. I've used them and wasn't that impressed. I didn't feel like they took up much less room in the suitcase.

I drive to Disney so I don't need them, but I used them when I went to Europe in 2005 because of the luggage limits. The travel Space Bags don't require a vaccuum. You put the clothes in, close the ziploc, and then roll them up to squeeze the air out. They worked great. I've read about people using the extra large regular ziploc bags in a similar manner and having good results, especially with children's clothes.

Last August, we used the 2.5 gal. ziploc bags for all our luggage and I was amazed at how much space we had left in the luggage! In fact, when we were packing to come home, I was able to put all our clothes into two peices and had one left over for all the new things that we bought!!!!

Plus, there was no trouble with security, seeing what was in them and no reason for them to touch our personal stuff!!!!! Can't stand to have them touch my things!!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

Will be using them again this August with my DGDs. There are 12 in a box. I figure 2 boxes will be enough with the ones that I saved from last year's trip!!

Yes, yes, yes. I love them! They're great and work so well. Gives you added space in your luggage. I purchased mine at QVC some time ago. We use them all the time.

Be careful with these... I used the regular space saver bags a couple of years back. They worked wonderfully and I think I was probably able to triple the amount I fit into my suitcase! I was overjoyed... until I got to the Tampa airport and after waiting for over an hour for my bag it finally comes out, bungee corded and unzipped with a note that my bag had been chosen for random inspection and once they undid everything they were unable to close it all back up! How emabrrassing! On the way home we wound up buying an extra suitcase for souvies.. and shipping a large box of clothing from my bag home via UPS! I learned my lesson - the hard way!:rotfl2:

I second the recommendation for Ziploc bags. They are much cheaper and work well. I use gallon-sized for the kids outfits and larger for mine. I also pack underwear and socks in the gallon size. It saves a ton of space and keeps things organized and wrinkle-free. I flew to Hawaii in August for 6 days with some business apparel with only a carry on!

Yikes! How awful. Not a fun situation.

I also tried a "test pack" with space bags on my last trip, and found they didn't save any more room than when I tightly rolled my clothes. I did use some ziplocs to organize things like underwear, socks, and some toiletries, but skipped the space bags.

Another thing to think of: most airlines only allow 50 pounds per bag. If you use space bags and cram more in your suitcases, there's that much more chance of having them be overweight.

My solution is to bring half of the amount of clothes I originally planned to take, and do laundry mid-trip. I tend to be a "just in case" over-packer, and learned the hard way on my last trip that I only wore half (or 1/3) of the clothes I had brought with me.

Yes they have travel space saver bags. On our last trip to disney we used them and had no problems with them. You have different sizes in bags, if you pack them right you have no problems and you just slide it shut when you are finished putting your clothes and roll the air out. I packed mine, my DH and DS clothes and it fit in one large suitcase. I will be using them on my next trip this month.

I agree the luggage size space savers are wonderful! I use them everytime we go on a trip! They give me lots more room for all the shopping I do to bring home new things!:p And they keep things organized at least in my opinion they do! And like the earlier posts the luggage size ones don't require a vaccum.

Overall they work well if you have bulkier items
like sweatshirts etc. But on one trip I had so
much packed in a mid-size suitcase it came in around
90 lbs and so cost me quite a bit to get it on the plane.

We have the same travel space bags, just roll the air out. Works beyond imagination. Compresses total volume to fit in a smaller bag, or lets you take extra stuff in a regular bag, but as others have stated, you have to watch the weight. wouldn't travel without them.

I use and really like these bag, especially when traveling to coler climates.popcorn::

I used the rollable space saver bags when i went to spain, and we could only have a carry-on size piece of luggage, and a backpack, and we were gone for 16 nights, which means a lot of cloths. These were great! i packed so much stuff in so little space, plus they are great if you don't ahave a vaccum, and your cloths don't get wrinkled like if you were to stuff them all in a suitcase.

DVC resorts have vacuums, but no attachments to use with Space Bags.

Ziplocks also work great (especially for kid's clothes) by putting daily outfits in one bag...just take out bag, the kid's clothes are in it for the day...no arguments about what they'll wear...it's already together.:goodvibes

We use the travel space saver bags whenever we travel. They are great! Be sure to weigh your bags before going to the airport. This way you avoid paying extra if your bag is over the weight limit. We definately are able to pack more clothes into a samller space. Plus the clothes are protected. I pack all liquids in large ziplocks, but in case of a spill the clothes will not get messed up.
