anyone use Netflix and the wii

I love it. But I can't figure out if its possible to have subtitles on the streamed videos? Has anyone else figured that out?

Netflix very recently upgraded their software to support subtitles, but very few streaming titles have subtitles available for them.

It is the main reason why our family (which includes someone who is hearing impaired) is using Blockbuster this summer -- Netflix's streaming would be nice, and would be the determining factor for us to select Netflix over Blockbusters, but as long as accommodation for the hearing impaired is a secondary consideration for Netflix, their streaming service is practically worthless to us.

We have it, but DH does not like the quality that it plays in. He spent last weekend trying to hook it up to our surround sound, but the video quality isn't that good. Is there an HD video cable to use with the Wii??

It may not only be the video connection to the Wii -- streaming, even in HD, generally suffers from grievous compression. Netflix uses VC1AP running between 2600kbps and 3800kbps. By contrast, when you tune in an HD channel on cable or satellite, you're getting something close to 15000kbps, or about five times as much data. (For those keeping score, Blu-ray discs provide bitrates about three times as much as regular HD cable, or fifteen times as much as Netflix streaming.)

Not sure if you can stream 2 devices at the same time, but you CAN stream to a computer and a Wii - I do it all the time.

We have done two devices at once.

We are literally doing this for the first time right now. It was so easy to set up. My DD is watching Never Back Down...think I'm gonna go to my bedroom and see if I can find something more of my taste. But this is awesome!

We have netflix streaming thru the Roku box and it's really good. In comparison, my husband won't even consider using the wii. We got the disc and checked it out but went right back to the roku.

I think our picture quality on our blu ray (streaming Netflix) was a tad better than the Wii, but the blu ray is in another room now, which is nice too.

I haven't used either -- the numbers I mentioned were what Netflix is sending out -- it is the best we can hope for on any of the available devices.

Earlier this evening I was watching a "watch instantly" movie through our console while the kids watched something else on the computer in the other room. I wasn't sure if it would work either, but tried it and it did!

question.........can you stream the movies thru the wii and also do it on the computer too?
or do you have to chose one way to stream

We have a blu ray, the computer and the wii set up--you can stream though all of them !! It is a nice way to add movies-esp. the ones "just didn't get around to seeing".
