Our friends and I will be taking an 10 months old and a 1 year old next year. We will alll be first time parents and are used to doing disney the "adult way". Has anyone had experience using any of the babysitting services available for the occasional adult night out? Any insights would be appreciated!

When we went in May we used Kids Nite Out. At the time my son was 9 mos old and my Niece was 16 mos. old. We were hesitant at first but we thought the world of them. We used them 4 times around nap time and for dinner once. They were great. I plan on using them next week when we arrive.

I have always been hesitant leaving my child with a complete stranger. Children that young cannot talk yet or alert you to anything that may have happened. I have briefly considered it....but I always come back to this: God forbid something were to happen to my child, I would always blame myself saying "How could I have left my child with someone I did not know....."
I realize that a lot of people use these services and are happy with them, so this is JMHO. No flames please!!!

Kids Nite Out is actually the official Disney endorsed child care provider and they are bonded and insured (whatever that means!) . Fairy Godmothers has also been recommended quite a bit on these boards and you can find info about both on Allearsnet.com in the "planning" section.

We have never used either, but fwiw, I have been a Dis'er for a long time and have seen many, many posts come up about both of these services and have yet to see a negative review of one. We haven't personally used it though because my desire to be with my ds on vacation has outweighed my desire for an "adult" night out. But then dh and I both work full time so when we're on vaca, it's "family" time. But that is just us. I do not judge at all people who want to leave their kids for a night out while on vacation! As a matter of fact, I believe that once ds is old enough (& potty trained, please God! lol) I will have no problem using one of the on property child care facilities so dh and I can have an "adult" evening while on vacation. I do look forward to it someday.

I don't know if that helps, but I hope it does!

We used Fairy Godmothers on our last trip and the girl was very good, had training with special needs kids as well (our oldest has autism) so she understood his making noises and such. We did find it kind of odd that when she put them to bed she just sat in a chair in the dark until we got back. I don't know what else I expected her to do. I wish the resorts would lower the age in which you can put your children in the "kids type camps", this would be so much more fun for them. Two of ours are under 4 so we did not qualify.
