Anyone use Hotwire to rent a car?

Our rates are very low for our trip to West Palm Beach/Ft Lauderdale on 4/8 to 4/15. The cheapest car I can find so far is around $500. We are picking up and dropping off at different locations, perhaps that is why. I checked Hotwire and even though I have to pay in full, the price is around $250. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with hotwire? I will wait to book, since the price could still go down. Anyone ever use Hotwire?

I have not used hotwire but I have used bidding on priceline for big savings. Note just ignore suggested bid price on priceline.

Thanks for the input. I will try priceline first. I read somewhere to put in a price of 15-20% lower then hotwire for a car. Wow, I would love to get a car from Hertz or one of the big rental agencies. Just hope we don't have to get onto a shuttle to get the car as we are arriving after 9pm. But to save over $200, I will drag everyone with all our baggage. Thanks again.

We booked a mid size car through Car rental savers for Apr 13-20 in Orlando for $124.34 with Thrifty.

Don't know where you are picking up but at West Palm it's a shuttle to all rental cars.

We have never flown into West Palm Beach airport but when I price out the rental cars, they say the counter is at the airport. Do we get our luggage and then have to get into a shuttle to go to all the car rental counters? Thanks for the info.

I've gotten really great rates with Hotwire but I don't bother bidding because I want to be able to cancel without penalty if needed. Sometimes the prices they have are "deals" but non-cancellable so I just pick the most reasonable price I'm wiling to pay and click on the "watch this trip" button. As prices go down they'll email me so I can switch to a lower priced booking.

My Mom used Hotwire to book our rental car for our trip in May and got a good deal for a minivan.

I thought hotwire car rentals were non-refundable. That's what it says, when you go to the page where they take all your info. I knew priceline was but thought they both were non-refundable?
