Anyone use homeaway.com? and....

Anyone ever use homeaway.com to rent a house for WDW vacation? Also what are your opinions of the Clear Creek area? I mapped it and it's exactly 8 miles from WDW but that could mean a long drive in traffic.

I used homeaway last May to rent a house. It's a legit site. Seems to be mostly UK owners. At least for the Florida area. All went smoothly for me but that's more a good owner/good management thing than a site thing.

Not familiar with the area you asked about (ya I forgot what it was already. I blame age. )

Yea the prices seem really good to me too! I found a house for $573 a week which would make our trip really affordable. I'm just a little skiddish about renting from someone who is out of the country. The house I found does have a local management company so that eases my fears some.

I have not stayed in Clear Creek, but I know the location. There is a Super Wal Mart very close to it and it is less than a mile to the junction of 192. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there. To get to the parks, you can go down 192 and then take the Sherbeth Road short cut. You can see where Sherbeth Road is on this map.

You can also take the new SR 429 beltway. It is a toll road, but it would help to avoid some of the busier traffic lights on 192.

I have stayed on the other end of 27 and we like staying in Davenport. The villa prices tend to be lower than staying in a community off of 192. When I stayed off of 27, it took about 8-10 minutes to get to the Sherbeth road shortcut and then an additional 5-10 minutes to get to the park of your choice.

I would not worry about renting from someone from the UK. We have twice and they were some of the best owners to work with.

I have used Homeaway but not for the Orlando area. I have to say we were very happy with what we got ~ it was a smooth transaction and the rental unit was exactly as described!

We've rented from UK owners a number of times with no problems. No different than renting from US owners.

we've used homeaway.com -- after hours of searching on vrbo.com I clicked over to homeaway and voila, you can actually put in proper search parameters!! same rental guarantee etc too.
