Anyone use DisneyVisa Redemption card to buy Gift Card?

I know you can use your Disney Visa Redemption card online to buy a Disney gift card. My next trip was unexpected (my Dad backed out so now I'm going with my Mom!) and is only three weeks away. I ordered my redemption card on Friday so I should get it next week which would not allow me time to then buy a gift card online and hope it arrives before I leave for WDW. Can I use the redemption card in a WDW gift shop to buy a gift card? Has anyone done this? The places you can use a redemption card are so limited, I would rather have the freedom of a gift card. Thanks!!!

I answered you other post, but just in case you didn't see it, I'll give the same reply here...

You can use your rewards card anywhere a Disney gift card would be accepted, so there is no reason to buy a gift card. Have a great trip!

Nope...nothing has changed. It is accepted everywhere a Disney gift card can be used.

It is a glorified gift card. It can be used in more places than a regular gift card. I'm not sure where you got the information that it is restricted more than a gift card, but it is not. The only difference is that the reward card has an expiration date.
I am not even sure they will allow you to use it purchase gift cards.

We wanted to go to Shula's, we were told upon making reservations that disney gift cards were accepted but not the redemption card. We were also told at DHS that we cannot use a redemption card to buy a disney geft card. Not sure why.

We are at Wdw now.

Shula's is in the Dolphin hotel and while, yes, the hotel is on the WDW property. They are not a WDW owned & operated hotel. You cannot use your dining plan credits there nor WDW gift cards.

As to why you can't buy a gc with the redemption card... usually most places (not just WDW) don't allow that.

You can get around this by buying the gift card from Disney gift card website. I'm just glad to know the redeption website is wrong/outdated and it is accepted everywhere despite the limited list they have online! Let the shopping begin....

Where do they take the rewards card that they don't take a GC?? I have not heard of that! And the fact that your points expire, that is exactly why I turn around and buy a gift card with mine...because the GC doesn't have an expiration date. That way I don't feel pressured to buy something or spend it if I don't want to. I can save it for future use. Because Heaven knows I'll be back!!

They are wrong. I got a redemption card at WDW...called and transferred my points immediately and then turned around and used the redemption card to buy a disney gift card. Just Did it!! So it can be done. I did it at DTD. I think you were talking to some misinformed CM's.
