We're doing my DS's 50th BD Bash in September and I just ran across a mention of this service. Sounds fantastic, but I was wondering if anyone has used them recently. The most recent post I can find on them is from 2006.

What's the good, the bad, and the ugly with them?

Hi! I have almost always used this service on our trips. There are a lot of differing opions, but my experience has always been GREAT! One year we had a huge family get-together and VP was able to organize and schedule everything for me. It was perfect.

One thing that I think has really helped me is that I always ask to speak to the same person. That way, nothing gets lost between the planners.

If you have any specific questions, ask away. I just used VP for my trip in August and it was wonderful. We were celebrating a birthday too.

I just got back for DLR and ordered a choc lovers gift basker with Minnie plush to be delivered to my room upon check in (4pm) and a birthday cake for DBF. I would definitley suggest getting the name of the planner you use and sticking to just that person. I was bounced around from person to person and when I did not get my basket by 6p.m. the day I arrived I could not get a straight answer from anyone! They charge your card 2 days before you arrive. They finally located my basket and of course the surprise element was lost on my DD, but in their defense the basket was very cute and dd loved it. Also, had to ask for the Bday cake, It was yummmy! well worth it. They did overcharge my card for the basket, but when I called and had them checkinto it they fixed within 3 days. So, I would use them again, but you will want to make sure you get the name of the planner you use!

There are a few pics of some baskets on their site, but only a few... you can probably guess which one is the Pirates basket. I ordered 3 baskets for our October trip and I can post some pics then...

We are doing the opening act of our vacation at San Diego. We don't get to the main attraction (DLR) till the 11th. Have a great trip! BTW when I talked to Vacation Planning they said that they can get ANYTHING they see in the parks in your room when you check in. I have already ordered a couple of ears with my DS and DD's names embroidered on it. So you can order off the menu!

Gosh, so many questions to ask you! Thanks for volunteering. I called yesterday and spoke with Brad and got a nice email back with the different basket offerings. And some room service offerings too. I didn't know they helped with other things too. So, they help with dining reservations? What other fun things do they do? I'm a real novice when it comes to DL (veteran WDW) so I need all the help I can get! Did they offer ideas on things you can do? Sadly, when we go there won't be any Fantasmic or any night parades so no special viewing options there.

Brad wasn't very forthcoming with information for me. Who have you spoken with? If they did a super job maybe I should try talking to them. I really want this to be a fantastic 50th BD celebration for DS! There are going to be about 12 of us flying in from all over the country for this. I was bummed that they don't have anything like the grand gatherings at WDW. Brad told me that they only do special things for large groups of 50+ people.

I always get all of my dining reservations through VP. When I check into the hotel, they have the whole itinerary printed up for me.

If you want to pay for the reserved seating for Fantasmic! or Electrical Parade, VP can order those for you and have those ready for you when you check in to the hotel. Also, if you do any of the tours, they will have those tickets waiting for you as well. It just helps so you do not have to go to guest services or city hall to pick up the tickets....

When we had our family gathering, we were less than 50 people, but they still helped us schedule all the dining....and it is kinda a pain when you have a bunch of people because some of the resteraunts won't take such a large group of people.
