Anyone use Bare Minerals Escentuals products?

Just curious what your thoughts are on these and where the best place to purchase them would be? I've seen them on the infomercial & QVC and have seen people selling the products on eBay too. Wondering if they are worth the price and what I should get if I'm just starting to wear their products. TIA!

I have been using bare minerals for almost 8 years now. I will NOT wear anything else. You can't beat the value. I wear mine everyday and it last forever. Plus it's great for your skin. I live in the south and it stays on all day without melting

I have normal to combination skin. When I finally stopped using Mary Kay and switched to BE, my skin stopped breaking out (and I'm 33). Mary Kay had me hook, line and sinker for many years (heck, I used to sell it!). But after switching to BE I will never, ever go back! Mary Kay is not even in the same ball park as BE, IMHO.

Ditto, to everything she said. It's all I ever wear and I've also converted my D-I-L to it.

Does anyone have the refillable compact thing? How does that work?

I do have it but it seems to get pretty messy (excess powder coming off the brush in the compact holder). I tend to use the retractable brush that I "pre-load" with radiance,blush or foundation- much faster and neater for me.

I got this with my kit, I did not use it looked to be to messy to me. I just open a hole or two in my container so only a small amount comes out at a time..

I have tried the Neutreogenas stuff... don't like it at all! Either to much or not enought and it made my skin itch.. and it was about $10, which is cheap, but not if it doesn't work!

Went to WDW last week and took the 2 girls next door, 14 and almost 16... I had got them both BM this last May... yes, I do love them! It is there B'day/Christmas/? present for the next 2 years! The oldest one never wore makeup, till I used this on her last Feb. for her first Formal dance.. she had a small zit/face sore, and it covered it so well, she loved it! The youngest is kinda a fashion queen, ( and both straight A honor students.. youth community types...) and she loves it also..

So we go to the BM store in the Florida Mall 'cause I was taking them and my 15 yo DS to PI for the evening, and we females wanted "make overs", and I had forgotten my BMs at home... , as I don't wera it everyday, only a few times a week at most..
Well the girls together out spent me by at least $100 + ! They got a discount as it was the youngest ones Birth Month! And we filled 2 1/2 of the frequent buyer cards... This was also a day or 2 after the most resent QVC show with BM on..

The girls now wear it each and every day! It is hard to see it on them when they have it on, but noticeable when they don't... and while both had excellent skin with out BM, I don't think either has had any blackheads/zits, or breakouts since they started wearing it over a month ago...

And, yep, I got a new starter kit as I had let everything at home... , so I now have the little compact thingy. And I have used it at WDW last week after a Splash Mountain shower. It worked very well, I barely touch the brush to the power, then closed the protactive cover on the power, tapped the brush on the containing lid , and then used the small mirror to apply. I did need to brush it on very well, but it was nice and handy!

Can't wait till the next trip, as I have almost 3 filled cards to use at the store!

I have read this tread about BE with interest..I have never tried it but seriously considering it now!

I have combo/oily skin. I think I would be considered cool. But right now my skin is darker than normal b/c of being at the pool so much this summer.

My #1 fear is not picking the right foundation color..even with the starter kit where you get two. I think I am somewhere between light & medium but not sure.

Also, what exactly is buffing? I have read about having to buff it into your skin but need someone to explain this to me.

First, the foundation is very forgiving as far as color. Because it's not liquid, you will never see a jaw line. You are most likely going to like fairly light and medium.

Buffing--well, for lack of a better term it means "grinding" the minerals into your skin. The more you buff, the better the foundation stays put. Basically, you take the brush and swirl it into your face, applying mild pressure. I like the kabuki brush best for applying foundation.

I am a MK Consultant and just switched to BareEscentuals for my foundation/cheek color. LOVE IT! I still swear by MK skin care (timewise) line for my cleanser/moisturizers though! No matter what type of makeup you decide on, you still need to have the "clean canvas" to start on!

I use to be a MK consultant as well I still use timewise..but switched to BareEscentuals for about everything else. I love it!!!!

At the BM store in Orlando last week there was a lot of people asking the same thing... I have splochy red/freckles/white skin... and the girls next door are part Chinesse/Amer.Indian/White and they tan well. We all 3 can use the same foundation! I use light/fairly light. The lady that did my makeup had a much darker skin tone, Spanish?, and more olive, but she also used fairly light /med sometimes...
So as long as you come even a little close to your skin tone you should be fine. Also you can call them, look online for #'s, and ask them for info. One of the ladies working there was a beautifull dark mocha/black skin tone and she said she has used the 3 darkest shades at various times... I would have said only the darkest one. But on that day she had on the 3rd lightish of the dark shades. You couldn't tell! It really, really blends! She was also beautfull, and looked like she had perfect skin... but said it was combo/oil/very dry!

If you can get into one of the stores that carry this stuff go in and have them do a makeover, it is free, fun and addictive! Wish I could sell it at home!

I was also told that you can add water to any of the products. I asked because I do a lot of theater productions, all the costumes,and most makeup really can ruin a costume. So I started using the BM on my DS when he is in a production, and on the characters with non washable costumes...
The saleslady said to add water or there waterproof stuff to make a base for stage makeup. And she said sometimes she also adds water to the foundation to really conceal face "flaws". But to do so in a small dish/plate with a makeup sponge wedge thing or a different brush then the one you use for powder appliation...

I just had to join in and say, "I love Bare Minerals."

I started using the products about 3 years ago. I was 29 years old and about to begin taking accutane for persistent cystic acne. Accutane makes your skin extremely sensitive to everything! I needed a lightweight makeup for sensitive skin with UV protection and Bare Minerals seemed like the perfect solution.

The accutane did its job and my skin has been clear and blemish-free for over 2 1/2 years--and I'm still using Bare Minerals! I typically purchase the seasonal kits from my local Ulta cosmetic store, however I've also purchased from Sephora. I recently discovered the tinted mineral veil, which is fabulous! So light and natural looking, I'm so glad I found it.

For you frequent flyers who have layovers at the Atlanta Airport, there is a Bare Minerals boutique on T Concourse, Gate 5. Next time you have time to spare between flights you should run over to Concourse T and have a quick makeover!

I haven't read every single post here, so forgive me if this was discussed. What does everyone use as a mosturizer under their BE. I use the skin rever-upper, but that really is not a mosturizer. I am 49 so I have some crows feet & wrinkles, but also have oily skin with occasional breakouts and large pores (this somehow seems so unfair to have BOTH!)

Anyway, wondering what everyone uses.

Thanks for your reply as well! I would LOVE to be able to SEE the foundation colors before purchasing, but no BE products are sold near me!

Sounds like fairly light (maybe medium in summer) may be my color.

Believe me, I was skeptical on this stuff at first too, but after a friends recommendation (HIGH) and reading these boards, I'm switched for life. I've only been a user since last Christmas when DH got me a starter kit as a set (quite a feat for a man who hates to shop, let alone buy anything "girly")!! LOL!!

I have auburn hair - I tan easily, and use med - and then I add "warmth" to help 'deepen' the color as I tan...

Thanks for the tip about wetting the be foundation!! I add water to foil the eye colors -

Someone said there wasnt a BE store near them - check to see if there is an "Ulta" store near you - they have ads in most Sunday papers (not every sunday tho) Ulta and Sephora stores sell BE!!

Just read another post -

I find glee to be more pink and thus I see that as more of a blush, or even for some eye shadow...

Warmth is a very dark "bronzer" style color - I hit my forehead, under eyes over bridge of my nose for that "sun kissed" look or if I want or need to darken my med foundation, I swirl it all over - I forgot one day after Spring Break when I went back to work and really buffed it - more people asked me where I went for Spring Break because I was so tanned!!!

Mineral Veil is indeed a powder made with corn starch, I still feel I get too much of a shine if I dont add my regular powder to set my makeup, or I have my compact I still carry because I dont think you can carry BE in your purse!!

I will also add that I filled my kubuki brush with BE med foundation, and when ds had his senior pictures and was told they wouldnt really air brush his blemishes, after 2 pictures I whipped out my kubuki and set his face - you can tell in the pictures, it took the redness out, and the blemishes vanished in the pictures!!!
