My DW and I are considering a quick 3 day trip to WDW in May and have thought about using Allegiant Air. I can fly from our Home (Knoxville, TN) to Orlando for $69 one way PP. This is much cheaper than the other airlines.

Tha problem is that Magical Express does not go to this airport (Sanford).

Does anyone know what types of transportation is available to get us from Sanford to our Disney resort?

Thanks! :thumbsup2

We have gotten a rental car and will be using a town car service on our next trip.

My dad & his wife are using them next week. He didn't catch that it was Sandford not Orlando till after they booked. He found a shuttle service that is $25 per person and is going to use that. I think he called the Sanford airport and asked about transportation options.

It would have been about the same price total if he had just used NWA or another "major" airline and flown into MCO and he would have saved time.

The Sanford website will show you several different options for shuttle services and rental cars. There is a link to the Sanford website from the Allegiant website. It was still a lot cheaper for us than the airlines in our area that fly to MCO.

The shuttle price of $25.00 per person from Sanford Airport is more than likely a van service that is $25.00 per person one way. In other words a family of 4 would pay $100.00 one way to Disney. And than pay another $100.00 one way back to Sanford. A total of $200.00 round trip. The kicker is that the van does not leave the airport until it has almost all the seats filled. It may take a few minutes waiting or it's possible up to an hour before you get rolling.

Car service from Sanford starts at around $180.00 and you leave immediately after you pick up your luggage. Car service may include a grocery stop and shuttle service does not.

I am so glad I saw this post because I am flying Allegiant and I just assumed it went to MCO.:sad2: I leave this Friday, wow, I can just imagine if I found out while when I arrived. lol I was going to used TIffany TownCar. Does anyone know if they do service there and what the cost would be?

Tiffany Towncar is not permitted and therefor will pay an additional fee, which they pass on to you, for picking you up there.

Here is a link to the airport site that lists the companies that will pick you up. Many of those companies will give you superior service than what you have received.

The price is going to run you somewhere around $200.00 round trip and some of the companies will stop for groceries on the way. The driver will pick you up in the terminal, take you out to his vehicle and be on the way. Travel time is approximately 1 hour and 50 miles.

We are flying Allegiant in Jan. for the third time. I got tickets this trip for $39 each way!!! We use a car service when we arrive and get a 15 passenger van because of our family size. They help us with the luggage and get us on the road immediately. We pay $180 round trip and get a grocery stop too. It would be more to rent a vehicle for us because we need an 8 passanger van and we are there 10 nights this trip (but always at least 7). We never leave the property once we are down there, so dont need a vehicle. Its nice to sit back and let someone else get us there without worrying about directions and such. Allegiant is a no frills airline, but we only have a 1 1/2 hour flight from VA. They also charge you for luggage now:confused3 , but we still come out much cheaper and we get to fly out of our home airport. If we went on another budget carrier (like SWA) we would have to drive 3 1/2 hours first to Raleigh.

We've flown Allegiant 3 times now and have rented a car each time. You really need to figure in the cost of the ground transportation to see whether Allegiant is a better deal. For us, sometimes it is, sometimes it is not.

Flew Allegiant this week-end from Knoxville to Sanford. This was my first time using them out of Knoxville, went to Chattanooga the other two times I flew them. A good service for the price. But beware, we were one hour late leaving Knoxville Friday evening and 30 minutes late leaving Sanford on Sunday. Just don't plan anything that evening and you will be fine.
When leaving Sanford be sure to be at the airport at least 2 hours early the lines are long at check in. To many people arrived at the last minute and that caused the delays.
I do plan on using them again in late May. Can't beat the price and we always stay offsite and rent a car no matter what airport we use. Even with the delays I have enjoyed using them.

Do they charge you the checked fee for a gate checked stroller?

We LOVE Allegient and Sanford! After using MCO and United for years, we "chanced" Allegient and Sanford when our regional airport (Rockford, IL) began servicing Orlando. Wow--no hassle, no time delays, and great prices. We fly into Sanford, rent a limo from Happy Limo and are usually in our resort room 4 hours from the time we boarded in Illinois :thumbsup2 I jump on the $79 ticket price and couldn't be happier. Once you fly this way, you won't go back IMO. There's no need for the special services or packages because you can do it easier yourself. All ready for June 08 at ASMo:woohoo:

Thanks for all the info.

We are booked on another trip with Allegiant in january to Las Vegas. This will be our first experience with them.

We just couldn't pass up the great deal we got. Three nights at Harrah's and airfare to and from Knoxville for 2 for just over $500. :cool1:

They do charge extra if you want to sit with your party and they charge extra for checked baggage.

The only thing that worried me for the Disney trip was how much it would cost to get to and from our Disney resort. Of course at $69 one-way per person, you can't hardly beat it.

We're flying Allegiant out of Rockford in just three weeks. I am looking forward to driving 30 minutes to this small airport rather than nearly 2 hours to Ohare.

And you park for free.

We always rent a car and are going to Universal anyway.

Now if I can just improve my car rental rate.
