Anyone use AAA card for 5% gas rebate

I just received one of these cards. I notice in the fine print that it says when you make your gas purchase that the vendor must have a specific merchant number to get the gas credit. Anyone if purchasing gas at BJ's qualifies for the credit or do the gas station part of BJ's not have a separate merchant number?

We have been using this card for about 6 months and saving with it. The special code they refer to is a code for gasoline which all vendors put in. We have not used BJs but have done Wallmart and other chains and it works at all....Go for it.:sunny:

I'm a AAA member. Can you fill me in on how to get a card like that and a few other details?
Thanks

If you apply for and get AAA's credit card and then use it to pay for gasoline, you get a 5% discount. I have just gotten my card, so I am not the expert.

The website says that when you purchase gas and if everything meets their criteria, including a certain merchant code number, then when the charge hits the card, you also get the 5% rebate in the credit column at the same time.

You can make payments for the card online, so my thinking was purchase all our gas with that card and pay the card off monthly for a 5% savings in our total gas bill. I did notice you can only pay them online 3 times a month (seems strange to me). My concern with using BJ's (where we buy 95% of our gas) was that the merchant number may be for all of BJ's and not just their gas facility and may not qualify.

I applied for the card on AAA's website and received it in less than 2 weeks. I did purchase $5.00 in gas at BJ's yesterday morning to test the card, but it only shows a $1.00 hold and not the entire purchase when I check the balance on-line.

Lou-Ann, my charge for my gas purchase finally hit the statement that I can view on-line. However, there was not a credit in the credit column, which is what I thought would happen. Does the credit show up immediately or does it come later somehow? Help, not sure if I should continue to use the card for gas purchases if there is not a benefit, would rather go back to paying cash.

Thanks for any guidance.

We've used this card for several months for gasoline only. Most of the stations we frequent qualify for the discount. We only found a couple of the small local ones that don't. Sams Club does.

The first couple of months I tried to match up the credits to the purchases to figure out if all were giving the credit. It is very strange the way they post them as the credits are usually a couple of days after the purchase and they will group credit together for multiple fillups. Since we use the card for three different cars, it gets a bit confusing.

We always get a few bucks back, though, so it's definitely worth the extra stamp and check each month. Never tried paying online.

Well, my credit showed up today, a few days after the charge hit. I am tickled to death. I just knew this wasn't going to work for me, but it is. If hubby and I fill up our cars, the rebate will basically give us a gallon each for free.

I plan to use the card just for gas and plan to pay on-line every other week to keep it paid off. Since I got rid of gas credit cards and have been paying cash ever since, I don't want that bill to start rolling in again every month.
