Anyone use a pressure cooker?

I have wanted to get one! I have been eying the Instant Pot for a while now.

The Instant Pot is the best electric PC on the market today. You can buy a glass lid for it for regular slow cooking (if one isn't already included) and the stainless inner pot can't be beat. I had another brand PC with an aluminum non stick inner pot - the inner pot was dropped once and bent out of shape - never to be used again.

I bought one about 9 months ago from Aldi for $40.00. I use it to make Pot Roast, I cook pork tenderloin in it (then I can make pulled pork quickly), but what I use it most often for is I get a big pack of chicken tenderloins from Sam's. I pressure cook the whole pack at once in about 15 minutes. Then I freeze the cooked chicken and can pull the amount I need quickly for soups, alfredo, chicken salad, etc. The taste is much better than boiling. I'd love more recipes so I can expand how I use it.

I've been using one for over two years and the best thing about it is,my dear husband cooks in it all the time!! We cook roasts, stews chili, frozen meats sometimes. and I attribute my pressure cooker to my winning first place in a chili cook of :) It is very easy, mine is an electric Wolfgang Puck cooker and my cooker won't even open by force till enough steam has been released.
The flavors are infused in the food, so tastes like you have slaved over them for hours! Pintrest has MANY pressure cooker links and food how to's for the beginner.
To answer the question about frozen meat, yep, it works! It takes a longer time for the pressure to build, but I can do a full frozen chicken in say 40- 50 min. tops. I do this frequently then debone and freeze the frozen chicken for other meals later in the week.

I used to use one years and years ago (like over 30) thinking I should consider another one didn't know you could cook from frozen good to know, thinking we need a pc recipe thread now

I thought I'd update that I cooked a whole (4.5lb) chicken in it in less than 30 minutes (not counting the time it takes to naturally release pressure), then after I deboned the chicken I made a batch of chicken stock in another 30 minutes. :) It sure is easier than using my slow cooker overnight for stock!

My bible is Bob Warden's cookbook "Great Food Fast". It's made specifically for electronic pressure cookers.

Another popular site is Miss Vickie's website with recipes (missvickie.com); however, she seems to deal with traditional stove top recipes that require a higher PSI (15) than can be obtained by electronic PC's (mostly around 10) and I'm still a beginner at this thing. ;) I guess it's just a matter of adding on more time.

Pinterest also has quite a few recipes if you search "pressure cooker recipes".

Does anyone know if there is much difference between the cuisinart and the instant pot? Amazon is having a sale later today on the Cuisinart, which starts at $88 anyway, vs. the $132 of the Instant Pot.

I recently purchased an electric pressure cooker. I'm trying to save money by not ordering dinner at the last minute because cooking will take too long.

Honestly. I'm a little afraid to try it.

I'm hoping that someone has some tips and recipes for me.

I bought one a few years ago but returned it because I was too afraid to use it. This thread has me thinking about it again. Thanks!
