Anyone upgrade to AP since the price change

Has anyone upgraded from a third party seller ticket to the new AP yet? We have plans of getting APs in March when we visit but I wanted to make fast passes this weekend. Can I still buy tickets from a third party at a discount and "price bridge" to the new gate price and upgrade when we get there? I am just trying to save a little money as the price increases caught us off guard.

Thanks
Reeddi

Two different situations:

1. If you bought a ticket from "old stock" (a ticket minted BEFORE the Feb. 12 price increase) from a third party reseller, THAT ticket will be bridged up to the full gate price from BEFORE Feb. 12. That "before Feb. 12 gate price" will be subtracted from the cost of a new AP.

2. If you bought a ticket from "new stock" (a ticket minted AFTER the Feb. 12 price increase) from a third party reseller, THAT ticket will be bridged up to the CURRENT full gate price (after Feb. 12.)
That "current gate price" will be subtracted from the cost of a new AP.

Thanks for posting this. I now understand what should happen in theory, but would like to confirm it is actually happening! We have the older UT tickets, so I fear they'll will be bumped out of the system -- like the really old non-expiration tickets -- and not be eligible for upgrading at all. I'll be happy to hear some success stories!

In actuality, it is happening. All the up to the minute Ticket Sticky info is being vetted by Ticket CMs. Upgrades to APs are happening and are being calculated in the manner described by @Robo. :)

I have read this 4 times to be sure I'm not reading it wrong. Is this now a new policy? Didn't Disney used to bring all tickets to current gate prices when they were bridged? I have to say this is very disappointing.

There was a reason they used to do this and it wasn't because they are generous. They didn't know how much you paid for your ticket so they had no choice but to bridge with current gate price.
Now, they do know the maximum you could have paid for a ticket that has no expiration date when they are unused. So that is the price they give you for those tickets.
I can't fault them for their change. They still don't know what someone pays for their ticket but they do know the maximum based on the ticket type.

Even the NE tickets stayed in the system for quite some time following their being discontinued. You are fine for a while. Not years but for this year at least.
