I saw that I can upgrade the software for my ipod touch. Has anyone done this? Do you like the results?

I updated to 3.0 from 2.2. Not aware of 9.0. Some of the newer apps require the 3.0 update. Copy and paste is nice. Sideways keyboard in some apps is easier then the small keyboard. The video with 3.0 is much better. I needed to update for the MLB 2009 app, now I can watch live games on my itouch. I have not used the bluetooth in the update or the audio input as you will be able to hookup a microphone and record. I would think that in time you will need to do this for most apps. Go for it :)

I think TAKitty meant $9.00, not verision 9.0

I did the update, not sure of the improvement simply because I haven't had it that long.

OOPS! $9 not 9.00 - I get it now - Sorry for that. Still a low cost upgrade.

I did the upgrade, because I was getting a lot of "video format not supported" errors. They've gone away now.

Otherwise, I haven't seen a huge difference, but I'm certainly not regretting my decision.

Thanks for the info! I might do it because it seems so cheap.

I just updated last week only because I've run across a few apps that only work on 3.0. Copy & Paste is nice, and the sideways keyboard, but other than that not much difference.

I updated and have no idea in the difference in that thanks to this board I am going broke:rotfl:
I found a thread on here about the I Pod Touch and had to have it so it came on Wed and I have been busy putting all kinds of applications on it including the update for $9.00. Now if it were just October the 17th and I was on my way to Disney life would be great:yay::yay:

I love my ipod touch and am going to upgrade. I'm not sure it will be worth it, but I am a sucker for technology and improvements.

Have fun on your trip! It will be here before you know it!

I just got my twin boys each an ipod touch for their 16th birthday. They've been getting it all set up. They each have an account and we didn't have to link a credit card to it, just an itunes gift card. We were all surprised to see that there was an update when they just got them and that it costs money. I guess I would expect an update to be free if you've already bought the item. It is free when you need to upgrade software on the computer. Of course, $10 to a teen is a lot of money, especially mine, because I think we taught them TOO well how to save money. But anyway, does it seem like something they can do without for now? We've never had apple anything before so "now I'm in a whole new world..." :rotfl: (for some reason the carpet scene from Aladdin is running through my head now.)

Unless they find apps that they absolutely have to have that require the 3.0 upgrade, they don't need it. There are a few convenience features that were mentioned up thread, but they're certainly not essential.

I upgraded. I love the Copy & Paste feature. I haven't tried the bluetooth yet.

I upgraded as soon as it came out. Unfortunately, the only thing I really wanted to try was the bluetooth, and it has yet to sync with my Macbook or brand new 2010 Prius. I have no idea why.

I upgraded and also bought a set of Motorola bluetooth stereo headphones (there are some great deals on these online). Now I can listen to my iPod with no wires! Like others have said, the copy&paste and landscape keyboard are really nice, but for me, the bluetooth capability alone is worth the cost.

Thanks, they are going to wait awhile. They don't have a bluetooth either.

I have a 2009 prius with built in bluetooth. Can I synch my touch with that?

I don't know about the 2009. Mine doesn't work though, with anything! Again, I haven't researched it too much as to why. You would think it would sync with my macbook though. Try asking on "Prius Chat" forum. They are a nice forum which is similar in nature to this forum, and people are very helpful there.
