Anyone up for a NC DIS meet?

***********EDITED FOR UPDATE**************

DW and I have another thought about DIS meet. We were at a restaurant this past Tues night in Greensboro. It has a 100.5 rating, very nice facilities wih a back room area that could seat as many as 30 I would guess. I asked about the use of it, gave them the date and time and they seemed very accommodating. They are family owned and the dishes were suburb! You can tell that the cook tries his food and gets it right.

So with a possible location change, please respond and give your thoughts. My only downside to meeting in Concord is not knowing the restaurants layouts, how long we would have to wait, etc. This just gives us another possiblity. Here is their website with directions, menu and such. www.villarosaitalian.com We had Fettucine Alfredo, Baked Ziti and Ravioli and it was all very good, true Italian food.

This makes sense. I'm not sure I'd still be able to attend though, it's about 2 hours from me and I have a client due in April which means I really have to stay within an hour from our hospital.

What a neat idea! I'm in Rock Hill, SC - am I close enough? :) I could swing Concord, but Greensboro is a stretch :( I'd love to peek in on this thread JIC :)

OT Jen (4DisneyfansinNC) - are you a ob/gyn or doula or similar? You mentioned about a client being due :) I'm a nursing student currently and hope to be a L&D nurse, probably at CMC.

I thought about going that route :) It fascinates me. Thanks for the good luck wishes :flower:

"Hey ya'll" :wave2:
I am a brand new DISer and just found this thread about getting together in April. I would LOVE to get together w/others to talk about all things DISNEY!
I live near Concord Mills and agree that OG would be almost impossible to get a large crowd into on a Saturday evening. Since we live in the Carolinas would anyone be interested in getting bbq or fish? There is a Sonny's at Concord Mills and also a fish camp. If neither is your cup 'o tea, there is a good buffet place called Fire Mountain that would have something for most everyone annnnnnd they have a back room for bigger parties.

I love reading all these threads and have been browsing for months. I finally decided to join in on all the fun. I keeps me close to WDW until my next trip....which I have no idea when it will be.

Well, Greensboro was going to be pushing it a bit for me to attend anyway, but I just found out today that my cousin will be having her daughter's 1st birthday party on the 16th, so I'm definitely out for the meet. I hope everyone has a great time, though!

Jen...looks like I'll be going right past your McDonald's on the way to the party!! :flower:

Sorry you wont be able to attend but I understand. There seems to be so much response in the Charlotte area that we should try for a Charlotte area meet soon. I felt bad to change but having response from other parts of NC, it seemed the logical thing to do and I couldnt get a feel for other places to eat in that area. I know there are lots of places in and around Concord Mills but I have never stopped in that area since it has grown so much. Last time I had stopped in that area, Charlotte Motor Speedway was only big thing there. Things have changed.
Zoegirl mentioned Sonnys BBQ. That might be a good possibility for a midday meet, not as likely crowded as Olive Garden. Other DIS meets have led me to realize quite areas make the best places so everyone can meet and talk.

Anyway, I hope most everyone can come to the Greensboro meet. I PMed everyone.

We booked a ressie yesterday for Villa Rosa in Greensboro.

So far these are folks who are planning on being at the meet.

zoegirl and her DH

fixintodie and his DW

and us, jimmytammy(some of you might know her as tammyNC) and our 2 kids

cruiseomatic may be there

and 4DisneyfansinNC we hope can come if all works out with her work

Again, we have booked the restaurant and will call them this Sun night to give a head count.

If anyone else can make it, please PM me ASAP. Or post here if you like. I will be checking everyday this week.

If you are reading this and a little unsure, please, dont hesitate to come. We are meeting in a public place so it is safe. Its just fun to get together with other DISers, swap WDW stories and help to get by til that next trip.

We have met some really neat folks by being at DIS meets. Dan Murphy who spends a lot of time on the community board is one who comes to mind.

By wearing our lime green DIS shirts in WDW, we met WebmasterDoc from the DVC forums in a chance encounter.

And these are just a couple of names that stand out. There are so many more.

The DIS for us has gone beyond being a place to write our ideas and read others. It has opened doors of meeting some really great people who share that common love for Disney. And a few of them have become really close cherished friendships we wouldnt have had, if it werent for the DIS.

So heres your chance to take that step we took a couple of years ago and go to a DIS meet. The only thing it will cost you is the price of a meal and a few dollars in gas, but the returns will be worth it all!

What time are you planning to meet? It's probably posted and I've missed it. Not sure if I can find a babysitter, but if I can, I would love to come.

We will meet in Greensboro at Villa Rosa Restaurant on Saturday, April 16th, at 2pm.

Bob

Thanks for watching my back ;)

Carol1231, sorry I missed catching up with you earlier. I was out the door this morning at 7:30 and havent been back on the boards until now. I sure hope you can make it. Our kids are 12 and 10. Kids are welcome to come!

Ok folks, it looks like I'm going to have to bail out.
But before you call me a loser and a slacker, let me inform you that some tickets have become available to us for Disney's "On the Record" show that is performing here in Charlotte. :cool1: So I'm not ditching you guys for nothing, only something Disney. I'm sure you understand. :)
I hope you all have a FANTASTIC time together and please, please, please let me know if you meet again.

We will let you slide this one time ;)

We went to see it last night and it was great! Especially impressive was a part of the show where they sing Be Our Guest. You'll see! I dont want to give anymore than that.

If anyone else wants to attend but didnt reply soon enough, please dont hesitate to come. We have plenty of room and the time of day will dictate that the place wont be full.

Hi all ,
A special thanks to Bob (fixintodie) for making me aware of this thread. I'm not able to attend this upcoming meet but am happy to find this meet board. Not only am I interested in future NC meets that might be proposed, but also will pass the information along to fellow NCers who might be interested as well, I have maintained an email list for folks interested in NC Disney meets for a few years, but feel that for those comfortable with boards like this one, this really is the way to go. I'll be glad to pass on information for those folks who either aren't comfortable with it or who don't have the time to monitor boards like this (though if any of you know of an NC meet scheduled and don't see me replying feel free to lob an email my way as Bob did for this meet)

Welcome to the DIS! You will be a great addition to these forums.

Bob wrote me that you might could come then was dissapointed to find out work called first. Hey, ya gotta have priorities, right. That next WDW trip wont pay for itself ;)

I am going to check out your 1st post here in just a minute.

Be sure to check in over on the Welcome forum and let everyone know you are here. I love the DVC community, theme park attractions and strategies, Disney restaurants and news and rumors forums.

Wish you could make it tommorrow but glad to have you here on the DIS!

Jimmy W.
