If only we could. DH is SOOO ticked off he can't get one! He got his 3Gs a year ago, and he is not eligible for an upgrade. So to get one, it will cost him $400! Funny thing...if he canceled his current service, and bought a new phone, it would only cost him $325. Does that make any sense?! But for $400, he will wait and buy himself an ipad, I think.

Has he confirmed that he is not yet upgrade eligible? My DH and I got a 3GS on release day last June and are already elgible for the upgrade. While the timing for upgrade eligibility is supposed to be based on factors such as how much you pay each month and whether you pay your bill on time, my DH and I were both upgrade eligible even though we have the smallest family plan, have a student discount and only have $5 each per month add on for texting. We do pay our bill on time!

Yeah, my husband also got the last iphone on release day and he is eligible for the $199 phone. I called AT&T for another thing and just doubled checked as I want to try to get us into the same 2 year cycle.

My DBF tried pre-ordering his new IPhone starting at 5am (before he leaves for work) and hasn't been able to make it thru yet! He dialed 611 from his phone and connected with AT&T who said the release has caused Apple's website to go down. Both Apple and AT&T websites need to be working for it to work. Now Apple is working and AT&T is not.

He did call to verify his eligibility and they said he wasn't eligible until March 2011! We always pay our bill on time, it is automatically deducted. We have a small plan, and we get a discount through his employer though. So weird!

We were able to reserve after hours for trying @ the Apple store. I don't understand how they are not prepared they know the amount of traffic that will hit the site when things like this are released. Just happy that my iphone will be here next week

DH was trying after midnight online, but the system wouldn't let him order. He kept trying today and finally got frustrated so physically went into an AT&T store. Their system was down so they were taking manual orders and then needed to enter them into the Apple system when it was back up. He did get a receipt so here's hoping it went through!

After probably about 20-30 tries between around 3 PM - 7 PM, I finally got through around 7:30 and got new phones ordered for me and DH. What a pain. But I'm excited now!

Thanks for this. I just tried it and got an immediate text telling me I'm eligible for the upgrade. Although... at first I tried to text it and couldn't get it to work. Then I realized you meant dial it on the phone. LOL.

DH and I downloaded the Apple Store App onto our phone and reserved it that way since the website was down. If you're still having trouble, try doing that.

I don't remember if it gave AT & T locations or not, since my DH is only willing to pick it up at the Apple Store.

I went to the At&t store this afternoon and pre-ordered mine. There was a 1 hour wait but once it was our turn we were in and out pretty quick, luckily no server problems at my store while we were there.

Anyone know if you upgrade and sign on for an additional 2 year contract, are you subject to the new data pricing or can you continue your unlimited data plan for 29.99?

just pre-ordered mine last night and you have an option to use existing plan for the same unlimited $30.
