It's a place where you can pay a fee, and go and assemble 12 entrees, each to feed 4 to 6 people. You then take the dishes home (they tell you to bring a laundry basket to put them in), put them in your fridge or freezer, and bake them whenever you need them for dinner!

Cost? $189 for 12 entrees, which they say breaks down to $3.15 per serving.

Here's some info from a franchise site:

My Girlfriend's Kitchen Profile Information:

What's for dinner tonight? My Girlfriend's Kitchen solves that problem and our customers leave the mess in our kitchen! Imagine assembling and taking home 12 family-sized, ready-to-cook gourmet entrées without the aggravation of shopping, prep or cleanup. Put them in your fridge and freezer and stop wondering what's for dinner tonight!

How many hours of planning, shopping, chopping, cooking, and cleaning do twelve dinners usually take? At least 12-18 hours! Our stores allow customers to assemble 12 entrées, spending only 5-10 minutes at each station. (Or, even easier, let us do the assembly and deliver them right to your door). Most of our customers join us for the assembly and some socializing. Bring a girlfriend and have some fun!

We include everything except the laundry basket to carry your food home in. Each menu item feeds 4-6 people depending on your family's appetite and can be packaged in half sizes, for smaller families.

We carry a vast assortment of dinner selections, with menu items changing monthly. Items such as our Shrimp Scampi a la Garlic, Beefcake au Poivre, Louisiana Bayou Turkey Burgers, Senorita Chicken Fajita, or even our delicious Luscious Lips Raspberry Trifle, are bound to satisfy the tastes of even the most finicky eaters. With dozens of dinner entrees to choose from, the biggest challenge facing most of our customers is simply which items should they choose?

Although franchises set their own prices, at $189.00 for 12 entrees, each item is a value at $3.15 per serving. Pickup and delivery are also available.

Sounds interesting!! Anyone try this, or something similar?

That sounds like so much fun!

Sadly Mississippi or at least MY part of Mississippi would never support it.

No, I've never heard of this before... but I wish we had something like this in MD. I would certainly use it. I hate to cook!!

This looks great! Wish they had one in Las Vegas. Does anyone know any information regarding franchising?

carole, I think if you go to the site I posted, there is a link as to franchising information . . .

We have 2 different places like this here. I've tried one of them and it was a lot of fun.

All but one of the dishes was really good too. The ONE was bad. Had to throw it out and go out for dinner.

I'm planning to do another session right before the baby comes, but this time I'm going to the other place (rathe than the one I did last time) just to try it out too.:D

I'd love to try something like this!

mom2alix What are the names of the ones near you? I'd like to see if they have locations near me!

Anyone else know of these kinds of places? I'd seen the "once a month cooking" cookbook and would love to do something like that, but I'm just not organized enough to pull it off! This would get the same result with no organization required!

We have one here in the Twin Cities area called Let's Dish that I haven't personally tried but have heard good things about; here's a link to their site .

One is called Supper Thyme (This is the one I'm trying next month)

The other is called the Cooking Club Inc. (This is the one I've been to)

I"ve looked at the OAMC cooking stuff too. There are a lot of great websites where you can get free recipes, so you don't really have to buy the cook book. I know what you mean about pulling that off. It looks really appealing, but I haven't had the nerve to tackle it either.:D

My playgroup has actually talked about having each of us make a really large batch of one dish and then doing a swap meet so we each end up with 6 different meals for one prep time. I think we're going to try a cookie exchage first and see how it goes.

I've heard of it.

I have not used it though. It sounds like a good idea, but I could do better.

An entree costing $12? I usually have my dinners cost about $5/$6 total for four people! Of course they are out for a profit, so that sounds fine for some.

Yes, but you are the QUEEN of discount cooking, Cindy!!!!

I heard briefly of one of these places opening up around here, but I haven't been able to find it or try it out yet . . .

I can't wait for one to open up around here!
I'd love to try it!!

mom2alix That's a good idea about swapping with your playgroup! ::yes:: Wonder if I could get some others interested at my moms group.... Hmmm... something to mention when we start back up! ::yes::
