Anyone try free bday things yet?

I went today and got B-Day Fast Pass. It was only good for 4 total rides and up to five people. I had two friends with me. They scanned EVERYONES ticket in order to get the B-Day FP. Then they split the MK FP rides into 2 separate list.

Donald: BTMR, Splash, Pan, Pooh, Space
Daisy: Jungle, Philhar, Stitch, Buzz lightyear

From those list, i had to choose two from each list.

For the most part it was a great time saver. Using the BDFP and regular FP we breezed through the MK in about 5 hours, and most waits where 50+. Not sure if it would be worth it on a slow day...maybe at Epcot or HS where Soarin or Toy Story are hard to get onto.

But time is never free. Esp with as crowded it was. Being able to see eveything in 5 hours and not spending a tiring day fighting crowds was worth it than having three t-shirts. Although I think I would have rather gone to the HS looking back at it...less FP attractions and longer wait at the ones there usually.

I was hoping more for an unlimited fast pass for the day.

That's cool.

The choice is available so that guests may choose their own favorite gift.
Sounds like you had a great time!

But a very limited FP, to me (again, to ME,) is not worth $75,
considering how they have "forced" the break down in choices
and all regular FP's are already free, anyway.

I am with you, while it is better than nothing, it's not enough for us to plan a special trip down.

If it had been unlimited or even like a Dream Fast Pass, we would have sprung for a birthday trip for the kids (two of mine have birthdays a day apart)

"I love FP" -

Was it good for you and 5 other people (6 total) or you and 4 other people (5 total)? I am heading down in May and taking my brother for his birthday and we have 6 in our party. I was hoping all 6 of us could take advantage of the Fast Pass thing, but if not, looks like it'll be a gift card for him. Thanks in advance fo your help.

<--visiting in 7 days. I'm a pass holder, so I'll see what other special stuff we get.

Are they good for one park only?

Yes.

Birthday guest (and party) chooses one park to visit and then the 4 attractions within that park
for which the special FP's are valid.

I commented on this in another thread but to reiterate~

We are going in May. Not only do 2 in our party have May birthdays, but one is graduating college days before we leave. The irony of it all is we won't be at the parks for these celebrations as the dates just never lined up with room bookings and other travel details.

I toyed around with changing things to fit the promotion, but husband and I don't feel it's worth it. That is no slight to Disney; after all, a promo is still a promo, something is still being given away. Yes, at the end of the day it's business , but nothing has to be promo'd or given away at all.

It just doesn't sway us either way.

The fact that we can all go to Disney together (a big group this time), not to mention be able to go again after 2x in 2008, is pretty spectactular, imo.

I must be in the minority, but I was more enchanted with YoaMD. I liked the mystery and not knowing....the randomness (even if it wasn't particularly random). YoaMD seemed to have a infectious, good vibe thing.

I cannot imagine what it had to have been like to win a night in the castle! That should remain as a random and very special experience, imo.

Im actually surprised at the amount of "Ill take the FP's" people. :confused3

I would take the $75, personally. But I like Disney 'junk'.

DH and I were already planning a trip for my 50th at the end of September before they came out with the new theme. We thought about the fast pass option for about 2 minutes - we're going with the money! We are pretty good with the regular fastpasses and it's not a real crowded time. I have to agree that Disney is going to be giving away a lot of gift cards!

Does anyone know how the $75 gift card works? Are you only allowed to use it the day of your birthday like everything else? Where do you pick it up? We arrive on Sunday and my nieces birthday is on Monday.

I think you pick it up at Guest Relations at the park. The entire value of the card must be used on the actual birthday - any remaining balance is forfeited. It is not valid for food. Since we have APs I will probably use mine for pins. Like I needed an excuse to buy more pins...:rolleyes1

Dang it, dang it, dang it :headache: I was all pumped up about being there on my birthday and they went and ruined it. Well, not really... Just have to come up with a plan B. I get why they did it that way... Dang it.

It just happens that the week I would have picked to take my nieces to WDW coincides with one of their birthdays. I'm planning to take the FP option because it is something we can all enjoy equally.

If it was just me, I'd probably take the gift card and buy myself stuff.

I was thinking the same thing! When I first heard about the promo it never occured to me to take the FP.

DD, turning 6, will take the money ($63). We are in the MK the entire day and she will have NO problem spending that!

Looks like DW & I won't be taking advantage of the FP's when we make our trips. DMIL (bday day before her daughter, my wife) & my DFather will be taking advantage of the ticket portion of the promo (at this point), but DW & I being locals will be opting for the giftcards by the looks of it.

I'm one of the "I'll take the FP people". I am disappointed that it isn't more like the dream FP"s but I will still enjoy using it.
For ME, I don't typically buy souvenirs and the way I see it considering the amount of money we spend on a WDW vacation $63 dollars is nothing. I would rather have a bit more fun!:cool1:

Gift card for me too! I need a new watch an want a mickey or minnie have not been able to find a watch I like in any store outside disney for a very long time so hoping I'll find a watch that I like.

If not a watch maybe a couple pairs of mickey crocs since mine are about worn out

We have passes, so it's a gift card for my DS on his 8th birthday in February.

It will be so nice for him (and me!) when we are in a store and he picks up an overpriced Buzz toy and says "Can I get this?" and I say "YES!"

DS: "Can I get these lollipops?"
Me: "SURE!!!" (I think)

DS: "Can I get this light saber even though I already own three?"
Me: "WHY NOT?"

LOL. It's a bummer it can't be used on food (can they get candy in a store??), or face painting, or hair braiding, (per my DD), but I am sure DS will have no problem spending his money. ;)

We'll be going for my son's b'day - I'll let him spend the giftcard how he wants :)
