I saw the program on Nova, thought about it, and recently something caught my eye about the Fast 5 program. From the time I was in about 6th grade up until I was about 28, I basically did the Fast 5 program without knowing that was what I was doing. Then I found out it was considered unhealthy to eat that way. I did Weight Watchers for a while, then Low Carb.
The Fast 5 program basically says that you fast until 5 PM each day. From 5 to 10 you can eat. There are some other forms such as 5:2 (You can eat 5 days, then must fast for 2). The Fast 5, like I said, is just what I naturally did for many, many years until I discovered that the experts said this was unhealthy. . .except now the experts have found a lot of health benefits.
I've done the Fast 5 for two days now. It's been as easy as falling off a log because I'm just going back into an old, deeply engrained eating habit. I drink a lot of de-caff and sparkling water until I leave work. On the drive home I eat a low-carb protein bar which keeps me from gorging when I finally get home. Then I have a good low carbish supper and have a little snack before bed.
We'll see if I lose any weight. Before I was thirty, when I ate this way routinely, I weighed 20lbs less than I do now. Of course, I was also younger then.
