I know I should probably try a search to see if someone has already asked this, but I'll admit it. i'm lazy. Has anyone from here tried Everest? If so, did you like it? What's the story behind it?

Nope, nobody has tried it at all -- the ride has been completely empty since it opened early in the year. ;)

Seriously though -- it's a great ride. Rode it during March Break 06 and loved it. While it doesn't do the loops and spins of some of the amusement park thrill rides it beats them in terms of technological advancement with the switching track and the backwards section. Hold on tight!

Absolute blast! And if you look behind you when you are heading up the first, largest hill, you'll get a fabulous view of WDW!

Loosely, the storyline involves being on the way to Mount Everest and a yeti kind of gets in the way and has damaged some of the track. It's a lot of fun :)

It has the most interesting ride line up of any in Disney :thumbsup2 . Lots to see! The ride is interesting and quite fast and there are great views of the park ( if your eyes are open!) :scared: Just be prepared for a long wait in the sun. DD and I went on last March and can't wait to take DH on in January.

It's Awesome!

Can't wait to ride it again in 20 days! :thumbsup2

Yeah that ride look fun. I've never been on it though. It goes backwards, right?

7 more sleeps and I'll be happy to tell you all about it!! Can't wait!!

It was an absolutely crazy ride. I went on it in May and loved every second of it. And yes you do go backwards...in the dark. It was so much fun. You just gotta go try it to enjoy it the most. I think I love the way Mount Everest sits in Animal Kingdom. It looks so real from a distance. We got fast passes, waited awhile around the park and then got right on within minutes of being in the line. You take a seat on an old train and take the ride up and down some crazy hills and turns while you try to escape the Yetti. Who is big, hairy and tries to get you towards the end of the ride. I am not going to give any more away, but it is definitely an extreme ride at Disney that you will want to try. Oh, but if you do have neck or back problems, you may want to stay away from this ride. I had neck problems and the train was whipping me around the corners so fast that my neck hurt for a couple hours afterwards. Not sure how I could have avoid that other than staying off the ride, I tried resting my head on the back of the seat, but that didn't work for long. But again, it was still worth it. :yay:

MY DS just flew back from WDW yesterday and said that Everest was a blast!! Especially heading backwards! Yikes.....not a ride for me that's for sure! :)

great ride - did it 3 times in 40 minutes ( goota love FP with a DD too short and a DW that hate Roller coasters )

We went on it in March. It is so much fun. We went twice. The first time we were near the end of the train & the 2nd time we were in the 2nd row. When the train stops where the track is broken, you get a great view od Disneyworls if you're at the front of the train.

We rode Everest 9 times over the two days we went to Animal Kingdom during the last week of March. I don't do roller coasters, as I don't like getting banged around. This ride was extremely smooth and I thoroughly enjoyed this ride. As previously stated, there are great views on this ride.

The kids loved it.

It was amazing, rode it 3 times last March. At times I didn't know if I was upside down or backwards or what.

We were there Jan 30-Feb 9, and got to try it during its unofficial opening period. It was really great. Me, dd 17 and ds 12 all thought it was very impressive. Although its a fast ride with drops, it was also very smooth, and the ride vehicles were spacious enough to be comfortable.

Did it for the 1st time yesterday and loved it! DH is not a coaster fan but he loved it as well. Awesome theming and so smooth. We did baby swap so I went through the FP line and didn't get to see much of the main queue but what I did see was great.

i am here at all star sports we got on in no time it said half an hour but was more like 5 minits.then right around again the ridw is fantastic but the wait today is over an hour

Well, I'm not as optimistic as everyone else. The Yedi is really not that impressive, I wish they would have placed him where the train begins its backwards journey so that you could actually see him. I would also prefer if Disney would spend a bit more on the quality of their coasters instead of sinking all the money into the atmosphere. The ride was pretty jerky and will only get worse.

However, the views were great and the ride looks amazing!!!

We did Everest about 2 weeks ago. I loved it. MY DH that thinks thunder moutain in MK is a major roller coaster hated it. Felt nausea most of the day.

I would ride it again and again but I got my DH on it once and only once. But at least of got the pic that shows him with his eyes tight shut and grimacing like he was agony :)

All this so I could get the free picture that was offered through Yeti Vision on VMK.
