I get a lot of odd looks, but no one has yelled at me yet.
I'm (temporarily) back in my old Mizunos for a bit. I was on a road run on Sunday and did something bad to one of the bones in my foot, so I am cheating and using the extra support and cushioning of my clunkers to get through my runs.
Be careful, stress fractures are one of the most common injuries for runners in VFFs:

I run some barefoot, but I am very careful about it. There is nothing wrong with rotating in running shoes. Right now I could not log all the miles I need to barefoot, even if I wanted to.

I often have people stop me and ask me about them/tell me I look weird, but this guy was really mad at me - I am not sure at what point my feet became his businessI was very polite though and just thanked him
and then I used my anger at being yelled at to fuel my last 1.5 miles.
Hope your foot feels better soon.
I am sure people do overuse vffs, but I was in the "correct" shoes (that had been fitted with pressure sensors, and laser alignment, and anything else the store had to help fit shoes) with orthotics in them, and I was injured constantly (I ran Goofy last year with a stress fracture in my shin) and now I alternate with my vffs I am pain free for the first time since I started running, so they get my vote

OMG are you serious? That is just flat out unreal!I would've been steaming. I'm with you- I have far fewer problems running in VFFs.
On the flip side I was in Target this morning & a guy passed me, came back & marveled over the VFFs, to the point he hollered out to his wife, beckoning to 'come see these shoes'. She emerged to say 'oh, they are so cute!'. Not that this has anything to do w/running, but it was pretty hilarious anyway.
How far have you gone in them so far? I have 10 scheduled for tomorrow, but I'm not sure I should attempt it. I've only gone 5 so far.
I know - I was pretty close to telling him where to shove his adviceI felt like asking him what he knew about me or my feet
I have had plenty of funny stories wearing them - especially when I wear them to Disney (which they are great for btw) - One person thought they were just the shoes "kids were wearing these days" he was very shocked when I told him I ran in them
I have done 6, and it felt really good actually - I am going for 10 on Sunday and if I am still feeling relatively okay after that I am going to buy a new pair (partly because of the strap thing and partly because I keep tripping over my big toe in them and I have made a hole on top of the top)
How did your 5 feel? I feel like if I can do 10 I can do W&D (Goofy is still up for debate though)
Kirsty
I am doing goofy two years in a row - I think I passed wild a couple junctions ago! (or crazy at least). I will let you know how my 10 go, and if I can move afterwards!

I did it!10 miles in my vffs I felt really good and felt the strongest I have all this training season - I'm not gonna lie - I hurt like hell right now
but I pushed myself hard and I don't think I hurt anymore than if I had run in my sneaks (except maybe my calves!)
My toe nails are a little sore and I have a little blister on my big toe - but again that would happen on a double digit run in my sneak too.
So all in all I think it was a successand I am thinking I can do W&D in them.
Okay - I need to eat and take a nap now!
Kirsty
hey guys!
So I went a little crazy this morning and decided to do my short run barefoot (on a sidewalk). It actually felt really good, my joints hurt less than ever - the only problem I have right now is that the bottoms of my feet hurt (just like a small blister like feel) I think it is just because my feet aren't used to running 2 miles on hard surfaces! But you guys should have seen the faces of some of the people as I ran past - you think you get weird looks wearing vffs![]()
Anyway just thought I would let you guys know it was kinda nice running with no shoes.
