A friend of mine leaves tomorrow for Disney for the weekend. She and her DH have two cars on reserve. Car one is a convertible. :cool1: Car two is your basic car...

Here's the dilema... the forecast calls for "thunderstorms" So are they talking occassoional or a LOT. She doesn't want to pay for the convertible to drive around in the rain!

Anyone there who has a better forecast then weather.com?

This time of the year, there are occasional storms at best (or, rather, worst from your friend's point of view), especially under La Nina conditions like we have right now. Except during the winter, central and south Florida weather is mostly locally generated, meaning that what you see from late Spring through early fall is mostly just statistics - between 30% and 70% chance of thunderstorms, depending on what month we're in.
The rainy season should be starting soon though... and because not being able to see the castle from Main Street Station due to wildfire smoke is even worse than having to drive a convertible with the roof up due to an hour of rain per day, let's hope that the rains do come soon!

That's what I figured, but I wanted to be sure some random front was not going to cause 10" of rain this weekend. (I realize you need it, and my friend doesn't have a problem with rain she just could save $40 or so if she knows it's not going to be top down weather)

There is a fairly good chance of rain on Saturday. The temps are also going to be in the 90's so I don't know if I would want a convertible.

We here in Atlanta are from the "its under 100 put the top down school"

That's my rule. If it's under 100 and I am NOT stopped in traffic the top is down. If I am stopped in traffic the tempature can't be in the 90's....

(What's a little sweat?)

LOL had to laugh at this. Out here in Utah, it's the "it's above 50 put the top down school"! I'm a wimp when it's hot though - about 85 and I'm putting the top up if it's sunny.

I'm watching the morning news. We're expecting a cool front to move in from the north. There's a chance of rain late tomorrow, into the evening hours. There could be severe weather in north Florida....40-60% chance of rain here...hot during the day though.

On our honeymoon, we had a mechanical problem with our National Rental. (The check engine light came on) They upgraded us to a convertible for free.

I will NEVER ever pay to rent one. The weather in Florida is way too unpredictable. If we put the top down, and it started pouring, by the time we could find a spot to pull over and put the top up, we'd be soaked. There was NO cargo space, and it had TREMENDOUS blind spots when the top was up.

Tell your friend to save her money to rent a convertible if she goes to Vegas or Disneyland!!!
