Anyone take glucosamine?

I have a knee that hurts and sometimes my ankles and the bottom of one foot hurts.
I decided to take glucosamine. Today was the first day I took it.

Has anyone noticed any improvement in joints since starting to take it? How long before you noticed any improvement?

Any side effects?

I have taken it for a couple years now. When I posted here on the DIS about arthritis in my knees, the folks here suggested (a lot of them) to take it, (actually Glucosamine and Chondroitin) and I have, along with Vioxx, and MSN. I do not know what effect it has had, but with all the above, I have improved. My best.

My DH takes it because he does floor covering and it was suggested by our Dr.It seems to help him.

I just started a few months ago and feel it has made a difference. The best price I found for it was at Costco. My doc recommened it as well as my sister ( who has taken it for years ) and her doc.

I've been told you can take just the Glucosamine and don't need the Chondroitin isn't necessary.

Any thoughts on this? My source is not too reliable, but HER source works for Merck.
