We've had a very sick year...lots of stomach bugs, colds, etc. and usually we are a pretty healthy family.

My mom brought this up when I mentioned our Disney vacation and she suggested having everyone take Airborne and be sure to take our vitamins/minerals and stuff in the 2 weeks or so before we have to leave. Does anyone do something similar you'd care to share?

I really don't want this trip to be ruined by another round of sickness and with all these kids it seems like we are in a neverending cycle right now!

Probiotics/acidopholus. We were so sick during the 2005-6 fall, winter, and spring. We started taking this stuff, and we have been much better this past fall, winter and spring. It also helps digestion. We even took the stuff to Disney (some forms have to be refrigerated after opening, so I took an unopened bottle of the chewables and threw it away at the end of our trip).

There are chewables for kids and powder for toddlers...

(And I love vitacost.com's prices!)

I'm sure that there were other factors to why we didn't get sick, but I believe that this definitely helped. We are taking every day now (all seasons).

We were big on the airborn last year. It was the first vacation I hadn't been sick on in I don't know how long. Dh got sick to the stomach but, we think he had a mushroom accidently and he is allergic.

I usually get cold/allergy type symptoms when I travel even by car. I think it is the climate change or something.

I have used the Zicam nasal swabs when I felt a cold coming on, and they really seemed to work. I plan on using them before and after being on the plane. Now that you mention it, I will take some airborne too. Good thread!

We started last week, our trip is in 9 days. My whole family expect the 19 month old does it everyother day. We used it this past fall, and through the Christmas Holidays, (we went to Great Wolf Lodge) and it worked like a charm. We didn't get sick until about 2-3 wks after we stopped taking it.

My kiddos pretty much hate the stuff, but I bribe them.:rotfl2: This time, they are complying pretty well 'cause they don't want to be sick for Disney.
We actually buy the off brand Airborne our grocery store sells in Lime flavor and it doesn't taste all that bad.:thumbsup2

We are in the single digits countdown for our trip now....I have our children sequesterd (sp?) except for school :rotfl: I know, most people probably think I am crazy but oh well.....

Good luck and have a Healthy trip!

My husband began using Airborne before and during his business trips and he believes it truly works. Not only hasn't he gotten sick but he also believes that it helps him feel better with time changes, jet lag and late nights. His business trips are usually stressful and he goes non-stop AM to PM. On those mornings that he is really dragging, he feels much better after his airborne. He mixes it with juice sometimes to mask the flavor (some are better than others) He does take it multiple times a day and it can get expensive. I've bought the store brands as well. I certainly don't think it would hurt to try it as it is mostly vitamins. They sell Airborne Junior too but I just break a tablet in half for my nine year old. Good Luck and have a wonderful vacation!!!

My husband used it before we went to China. I couldn't stand drinking it so I just loaded up on vitamin C and Olive leaf. Neither of us got sick.

We took it before our trip in Feb. and neither of us got sick. We use it just once a day if we're not sick and are just wanting to prevent illness. DH has been using it fairly regularly since because he realized that he has a lot more energy and isn't tired when he comes home from work on the days that he takes it.

I take it before trips every time. Also I was scheduled for surgery in Jan and the dr told me if I got a cold he couldn't due the sugery and I wanted the surgery over so I took Airborne for 2 weeks prior to my surgery and every one in the office I work in got a cold except me and I was able to have my surgery and I think beeffing up on all the vitamins really helped after my surgery too. we will be taking it when we go in Oct

What a great idea!! I never thought of it, and we are definitely going to do stock up and start taking our Airborne before we go. I always worry a little about the recycled airplane air, and the germs (we carry sanitizers everywhere) but my thinking hadn't gotten all the way to Airborne. Thank you!

I take Airborne before traveling and if I feel a cold coming on (Zicam nose spray gel works great too). You might want to ask your doctor about it. I read that Airborne has too much Vitamin A in it and can make you sick if you take too much of it. They say you can take it every 3 hours, but I don't take it that often-- once or twice a day at the most.

Here is a little tip... Take the Airborne for the way back, too. I hate for the kids to be sick when we get back and miss school!
