If so, how much did you find you saved? We're planning on looking at Trailblazers this weekend and I'm just wondering how much we can expect to save. Is it hundreds or thousands?

Thanks!

We drove through a chevy dealership Sunday looking at cars and the savings were $3000-4000--DH saw an AValanche that was $7000 off.

I saw Ford was offering it and was getting ready to F-L-Y out the door when I read the small print...............................

".............. excluding Ford Mustang GT"

:guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty: :guilty:

GMC we would have saved $6K-$7K if we bought...the more the vehicle costs..teh more the savings will be. The truck was cheaper on the tag price than a 2 year old version of the same vehicle on the lot.

Alas--no money..but looking was lots of fun :).

I did. I bought a 2005 Chevy Malibu LT about 2 weeks ago. The list price (with shipping but before taxes/tags etc) was $25,710. I paid $20,881 (before taxes, tags etc).

I think I got a good deal.

DH has a shiny new Silverado parked in the driveway from that promotion.

Sticker price was $30,000.00 - with the employee discount - $23,000.00.

Charade how do you like your Malibu? I saw one I really liked but I couldn't find onstar on the options list, and any car I have must have onstar, so I'd have to get a different one. The blue color I saw was sweet.

I got the silver one with gray leather (standard on the LT). The only options I don't have are OnStar, 6 CD changer and the polished wheels. OnStar would have been nice.

The first thing I did the next day after picking it up was take a road trip. It was a MUCH nicer ride than my 2001 Ford Escape (I HATE that car!!). I put on about 500 miles and got almost 31 miles to the gallon! I haven't driven it much since I can't use it for work until the switch me off of my company car (the Ford). Overall, I'm pretty pleased with it. The only reason I considered it was because of the price. A like equipped Nissan Altima or Honda Accord was 1000's and 1000's more (about 4 to 5 more). The interior is smaller (lower headroom than my Ford and it will take some getting used to but I really like the ride and quietness compared the Ford.

I found mine online. Just go to www.chevrolet.com/malibu and search (by zip code) for the vehicle ("locate a vehicle). You can see the actual sticker and the employee price right there. Be warned though that the dealer inventory may be slightly out of date because of the popularity of this sale.

Go online and you can see the employee prices there along with the window sticker. Shopping for a car couldn't be easier!!

The employee price includes any rebates. Mine had a $2000 rebate. You can keep the rebate or get special financing. I kept the rebate because I put some extra money down.

DH is trying to buy a new truck. None of the local dealers can seem to find what he is looking for. The discounts are great, and there is a $3000 cash back incentive as well.

Good luck.

Ask the local dealer if they can find the truck you want at another dealer. What dealerships sometimes do is to "swap" vehicles, if one has a vehicle that the customer of the other is looking for. We did this when we bought DH's truck. We always buy at a particular dealership, because my dad works there. They didn't have exactly what we were looking for, but we were able to find one at another dealership, and they swapped with them, so that we could buy the vehicle we wanted without having to go to another dealer.

It's true that they can search for you but with the internet, you can too. I found several places with the car I wanted and when I went to the closest dealer (I had no preference) the one listed for their location was sold. I showed them the VIN number of one at another dealer and they made the swap with the other dealer then sold me the car.

Someone at work bought a loaded Cadillac this past weekend and with her trade-in and the employee discount it was a savings of about $19K

Does anyone know if this is true for both Chevy and Ford: you can combine the Employee discount + either a rebate or low APR?

TIA!

Very true. I probably wasn't clear in my orginal post - but we also found the truck we wanted on our own, then our dealer called them & did the swap. The only issue becomes whether the dealer that has the car you want is willing to swap it. In our situation, our dealer found the truck we wanted and had arranged for a swap, then the other dealer changed their mind & backed out. We then found a comparable truck elsewhere & had the swap done.

DH just brought two new trucks for business under that plan. A Chevy 2500 and a 1500 saved THOUSANDS on both. It was a great deal for him.

We were going to get a new car next year, but with those sales we couldn't pass it up and :

a 2005 is now in our driveway! We saved 10000!

05' Chevy Cobalt for my daughter.

I ALWAYS take advantage of employee pricing on my cars... I AM a dealership employee (and I don't have to settle for a Ford or a GM to get it lol ;) )

I don't know how much is being saved I only know they are selling tons of Chevy vehicles. DH works PT for a dealer as a DX man (which means he is the one that goes to another dealership to pick up the car someone wants what their local dealer doesn't have).. he normally does about 5-6 of these a month, now he is doing about 5-7 a week, he has already done 4 exchange pick-ups this week.

GM announced sales up 46% over last year which is why they extended the offer and then Ford followed up with their version.
