Anyone still fax room requests?

Does any resort still accept fax room requests, and has anyone tried lately with or without success?

I faxed our request and situation and got everything we asked for, plus a room with a view of Seven Seas Lagoon allowing us to view the Electric Water Pageant from our balcony.

MissionMouse, what resort were you in what type of room did you have? I'll be at the WLV and have a courtyard room. I would love to have a view of the EWP from my balcony.

When do you send your fax? When you book or right before you arrive?

I could be wrong, maybe someone else will verify, but I heard that they were really frowning on faxes and that some resorts no longer accepted them. I seem to remember WL being one of them. Hopefully someone else can confirm this.

I would imagine it's a nightmare for the room assigners if they get tons of faxes all the time!

The important thing is to have your requests on your reservation record.

I faxed and got exactly what I requested at POR last March. I have heard that the resorts were no longer honoring faxes, though. That info is strictly anecdotal. We are going in November and stayinga at AS Music. From what I am reading here I shouldn't bother faxing a request.

We faxed a request at to AKL in May and got exactly what we asked for - close to the lobby, pool side of the resort, overlooking the main savannah. None of those requests were noted on our reservation, so I know that they came from the fax.

I have faxed in the past, most recently Feb 04 at the CR and have been very happy with the room and had my requests met. I don't ask for anything I haven't paid for, usually just non-smoking and in the case of the CR I requested North Wing. IIRC only the non-smoking was on the reservation.

I am staying at the Polynesian in October and probably won't fax a request this time.

I've heard both positives and negatives re: faxing room requests. In my case, the essentials (king bed, non-smoking) are on my reservation already. However, I will be sending out a fax 3-4 days before arrival to request a specific building. I'm staying at the CBR, so if anyone has stayed there recently and can tell me a bit more re: room requests, I would appreciate it.
