I'm getting an error message right now too when I try to log on. Servers must be down which is great for us b/c that means there will be a bum load of quick questions coming in when it gets back up running.

i hope so forum and underground are down as well, which is puzzling, since they're separate servers. i guess that's why it put me in such a panic. they're not usually all down at the same time.

I still ChaCha every night. I have been making around $150-175 a month. I get back to back questions on the weekends. They all about football, so I have been learning a lot about football lately. For awhile there I would log on and get two questions in an hour. Now I can't stop getting questions.

There was a message this morning saying the Universe would be down at 6:30 for a half hour but it might be up sooner. I was working and it kicked me off has been down since.

I still ChaCha. ChaCha has bought my kids the IWANTS for school & dinner out each week. (better jeans or brand name sneakers) The best traffic is on the weekend. The questions are harder & take longer to answer or search for. In 45 minutes, I had answered 25 questions yesterday. I averaged about $3 an hour yesterday. I used to average about $6-10 an hour last year at this time. QC has been slamming us.
We have been getting high volume alerts again. This past weekend there was a contest for 5 lucky winners per time period $5 each. It's hardly worth the effort to stay awake until 1AM.
I do it for a few extra bucks every week, but I don't count on the money. I take the laptop outside & let the kids play while I answer a few. I pop in a video, load the kids with snacks & work at the desktop. I make enough to cover the snacks they ate trying to keep them busy.

Once I made enough money to pay for our December trip, I stopped working for awhile. Now I am trying to get back into it just to make a little extra spending money. As others said, if I can make a few bucks while I am sitting around not doing anything else, why not do it?

I use swagbucks to search when Im working kgb. I tried ChaCha but its always slow. Last month I made 300 with kgb. The only thing I like about ChaCha more, is the pay me now function. With kgb its a once a month payment still.

The ChaCha is dead for me. I may work it just out of sheer boredom this summer. I tried a little bit on Thanksgiving and it was terrible. Absolutely ridiculous questions that took forever to answer. $3/hour before taxes just isn't worth it.

you made $3 an hour? wow, you must be an expeditor. it's been MONTHS since i made that much in 1 hour as a specialist. i make probably $1.50-$2, on a busy weekend. weekdays are definitely slower. although, this weekend was the slowest i'd seen it in a long time-it was like it was a weekday.
just a note: if anyone wants to switch to expeditor, hiring is now open.

Is there a KGB thread I am missing? I am going to be around a lot in KGB this month. I am going to have a zillion holiday bills to pay off, and I need to make as much as possible. Not sure how that's going to play out once the kids get out of school..but I am going to try!! I made $15 today..I had it logged into KGB from the time we got home from church till about 8pm. I am pretty picky about the questions I take, so I would come and go..make the kids lunch, dinner, do dishes, baths, showers, do laundry...whatever. So anyway..even though I was multitasking a lot I made $15 in 6.5 hours, I know it would have been a lot more if I was dedicated enough to sit down and KGB the whole time!

I know weekends and evenings are the busiest time, so I am hoping to make another $5 after the kids go to bed that way I don't feel as bad if I don't make as much tomorrow.

I haven't worked for them since they changed the pay scale, then used all the answers to questions that I had provided to them and paid ex's to use my answers for less pay- not fair to them or me. Then the whole one or two questions an hour and being told that it was on my end of the deal to figure out the key words.

I did manage to get the magical key words after weeks of stress and great frustration.

I was a great researcher and filled out the answer with as much detail as possible. I didn't use "more" except for driving directions and song lyrics.

At first, I never got dinged, and not often later, even till the end of my working with them. I was all but one week on the "good" list- lost that statis when we went on a WDW vacation and so earned top pay after the big change over.

I earned around $9 dollars an hour and the money tied us over when Dh was out of work and we needed food and meds.

It just got to the point that it wasn't worth my time, when I went from $9/ hour to maybe, if I was lucky, and didn't move from my desk, to less then half of that pay per day.

Has it gotten any better with them?

We are now in a much better financial place but still need to work off the credit debt- we owe $16,000- we lived on the card for months and used it for moving costs.

So, I would like to work for them again but I don't know if I can stand all the stress of the changes AND I've been away for the better part of 1/2 year so I am in no way familiar with any new "rules".

What to do??? sigh

I'm an EX and, although I don't do it as much as I used to, I still do it while watching TV for an hour or two every night. I CONSTANTLY get emails from QC for bad categories and such (more so than I used to) but SO many questions can fall into several different categories. We also should be using our PAQ's and stuff without sending it to a Specialist 95% of the time. How am I supposed to do that when every(most) question I'm getting is nowhere to be found in any of the PAQ's or the Quick answers?? I just don't stress about it and do the best I can. I make about $3 an hour if I sit there for an hour and try to answer each one as quickly as possible but really it's more like $2 per hour for me.

I'm still an expeditor. The thing is, of course theres plenty to complain about, low traffic volume, lower pay, etc. but the reality is, just while I've been sitting here reading this thread, I've made about $.20. Granted that's not much at all, but it's more than I would have made had I not had it on.

It's definately not worth it as a full time or part time job, but as a time killer while I'm sitting here doing nothing anyway, why not?

I agree with this notion. The changes are annoying, but as an expeditor it's easy for me to kill two birds with one stone - make $2-3 an hour while reading the DIS and before you know it, I've made lunch money for the day.

I got that email today - I just have to figure out how to get my money out of the bank. I'm so done with chacha. Now two cents per question to do half of the job of a specialist. No way. I'll take two cents if you want me just to send it over to someone else. But quick answers, horoscopes, and all that other junk make the job ridiculous.

I agree. In my delusional mind I thought that they would INCREASE it what with the constant News things about how successful ChaCha has been recently and how I'm constantly getting emails that they're busy. I'm kind of torn as I enjoyed the extra $100+ a month but now I'm going to have to work 1/3 longer for the same amount . I really didn't want to go back to KGB.

i still do chacha. i start between 6:30-7:30 am and finish between 4:30-5:30pm. i make between $15-$15.25 a day. there are people in sweatshops in china making more money per day than i do...
if the help wanted ads in my city weren't completely empty, save for the scams, i'd quit chacha forever. i fully expect guide pay to be lowered again very soon, because it has been almost 1 year since our pay was cut in half. when i think about the days when top guides made $.20 per query, i want to cry.

I miss the $.20 top guide days...I made about $300 a month back then...now I haven't been paid since May 09. LOLOL I still have $66 in my account & do PMM.

OK, question for those who are up on all things ChaCha...what is this On Demand tab I see now? I haven't logged in since November...everytime I go away & come back & get dinged for all these things I didn't know changed. LOL
