Anyone stayed at the Swan lately?

We've stayed at both the Swan and Dolphin, but it's been years ago - 2001, I think. Since then, we've spent most of our trips at POFQ or AKL, but now I have a good rate at the Swan so we're considering spending 10 days here in December.

I cannot seem to find any recent reviews on the Swan, so I was wondering if anyone has stayed here recently. I don't seem to recall any updates, so I would imagine the rooms are getting worn. Also, I seem to remember climate control issues - our room was musty/damp and we had difficulty maintaining a comfortable temperature.

So, if you've stayed here within the past year or so, I would appreciate your feedback.

Thank you!

We stayed at the Swan for a night in late Oct 2012. It was our 3d stay at the Swan. I found the room clean and there was no issue with staleness or mustiness. Over all, it was perfectly acceptable for the night before we flew out and I would certainly book it again in the future.

I was there for a week back in July 2012. It was a really great stay. I've since stayed at OKW and at the Hilton Lake Buena Vista (by DTD). I'll be back at the Swan for 3 days in September by choice. I greatly enjoyed myself. I will say, though, it's worth the upgrade to a Resort View if you are at all a view person. The standard views can be pretty bad (close rooftops, etc.).

We haven't stayed there recently but I do have to warn you of something if you have allergies. A lot of what is in the room is feather and down. If you are allergic you will be miserable. We didn't realize dh was and he got wicked allergy attacks when we were there last. Took us a day to figure out what it was that was causing it. You can ask for hypoallergenic alternatives. We didn't realize this until it was too late.

Thank you for thoughts. I'm glad to hear everyone had a good stay.

I do have a kiddo with asthma so the down could be something to consider....

Is this the case at all Westins? I am not sure if anyone is allergic to down because I buy down alternative. That must have been miserable :(

I'm not sure if it is all Westin's but I know they did it at the Swan and Dolphin. Poor dh was very miserable. He sneezed, coughed, and his eyes ran the whole time we were there. We only figured it out right before we were going home when we were out of the room for a few hours and dh began to feel better. This was a couple of years ago so they may have changed it but it was such a complete refurbishment for them at the time that I can't imagine they would have changed again. If you are at all concerned about allergies I would call and ask and if it is still feather and down I would ask for the alternative.
