Anyone stayed at the Days Inn near DTD?

The website says that it is only .5 miles from the DTD marketplace eand 1.5 miles from the westside. Just wanted to make sure that it's as close as it says it is, since we won't have a car and are planning on walking to DTD and using Disney transportation. Also, does anyone know the distance between this hotel and the Saratoga Springs resort. I've been told that I should walk there to get a bus to my early breakfast PS at AK.

Is this the one on Appopka Vineland Rd?
This hotel is just fine if you are not concerned with a lot of amenities. We have stayed on the higher floors (6-8) and have had a great view of DTD. The .5 mile distance I believe, is to the entrance to the DTD area not DTD itself. It is a little bit of an extra walk, (probably about 1 mile total) but we enjoy doing it. It is located at the CrossRoads shopping center and is in the hub of activity so we feel like we are always in the action.
The rooms have 2 beds, a pull-out sofa and a balcony. Pets are allowed to stay at this hotel and I have read reviews on Travelocity that some of the lower floors are less clean or are a problem to those with allergies.
It's not the Hilton, but for about $70 its just fine. :wave2:

 Yep, that's the location I'm talking about, and a 1 mile walk is just fine with me. We actually got the room for just $50 an night, so that seems like a pretty good deal. Thanks for the info.

It can be done, and I have seen a few people walking from 535 to Downtown Disney, but it's a lot further than it looks on a map.

My bigger concern would be walking this far to get on the Disney transportation at Downtown Disney. The Downtown Disney buses may be the SLOWEST of any transportation you will take, just based on the number of stops you need to make when leaving from there. If you do this, I would allow LOTS of time as you are adding 20 minutes or so for the walk, up to 20 minutes to get on the appropriate bus in Downtown Disney, and then probably another 20 minutes to get through all of the stops and on the road. Once you are out of Downtown Disney, it's not too far to the various theme parks.

It can be done, but I wanted to warn you before counting on this for your transportation for an entire vacation. Remember, once you get back to Downtown Disney, you'll have the walk back to the hotel each evening.

The Unofficial Guide also warns against using Downtown Disney as a transportation spot for some of the same reasons I described.

If anyone has done this successfully, feel free to correct me, but it doesn't sound like something I would rely on for an entire vacation.

Also - if I'm not mistaken, NONE of the downtown disney buses go directly to the parks - you will need walk to DTD - take a bus to a resort - get off & take another bus to the park you wish to visit.
***BUT*** the DTD hotel busses DO go directly to the parks. ;) I would personally never do this in fear of being caught but it is an alternative..... (& yes, not a morally correct thing to do since you would not be staying at a DTD hotel) BUT hey - we all gotta do what we need to do & I'm not gonna judge

We stayed at that hotel last summer - (32.00 a night) and they had bus transportation, although the schedule was alot more spread out than other places, it was free and saved us a walk after a long, hot day in the park.

We were planning on using the Saratoga Springs buses. Someone on the transportation board, who I believe works for Disney, told me that all Disney transportation, including resort buses, is available to everyone visiting the parks. Is that incorrect?

Technically resort buses are only supposed to be used by people staying, or visiting the resort.

What will you do if it's pouring rain? Some of your savings is going to wind up going for taxis. For other people reading this thread...if you booked a Disney hotel, even a value, you'd be able to use ME for free transfers from the airport to your hotel and have much better transportation. Add the cost of your airport transfers and a few cab rides and most of your savings is gone.

Well, my hotel actually does have a shuttle, but it doesn't leave very often, so I was hoping I could take the resort busses. All the info I got on the Transportation board said it was ok, so I had planned on that.
