We were originally going to stay at HIFS (since I've stayed there before with parents and DD and enjoyed) and had a rate of $102/night but joined Mariott Rewards and got an offer for $54/night for SpringHill Suites (at Mariott Village in Little Lake Bryan area) and couldn't refuse (it means we can stay longer at WDW!!!!!).
Has anyone stayed at SpringHill Suites before in this area? We've eaten at Bahama Breeze and Landry's Steak House which are very close by and I know it's very close to WDW and other attractions. The pictures of the rooms look good--I know, not as much space but for $54 a night (and a longer stay in Orlando with the money saved) we're willing to be a little cramped.

We stayed there in 01 ,pictures looked good but they definately were taken with a wide angled lens!! There's no divide between the bedroom area & the so called lounge/dining area. One big gripe was the so called free games console-it's ok the console being free but playing games at $7/hour was a bit excessive-a very unimpressed 6 year old!
Overall the accomodation was clean & tidy, some staff were very helpful, whilst some others didn't have a clue! The food court wasn't open because of insufficient lodgers(not exactly our fault!) so can't really comment.if you've got it cheap enough then no probs, just wouldn't class it as a "Suite"!
SD:rolleyes:

Haven't stayed at that particular location but we have stayed at other SpringHill Suites and they are all virtually identical.

As shooby doo said, it isn't really a suite, but rather a studio. There is nothing separating the sleeping area from the sitting area. So if your kid goes to sleep, you still have to be relatively quiet to avoid waking her. What we always do is throw a towel or jacket over one of the lamps so we can at least have some lite in the room by the sofa.

$54/nite is definitely a great rate for this hotel. But it might be worth checking out renting a condo somewhere like Windsor Palms. You didn't mention when you are going, but depending on season you may be able to get a 2-bedroom condo for that price or a little more. That would give you much more space, truly separate bedrooms and a full kitchen, rather than just a microwave and mini fridge.

BoxerMom--
Please let us know how your stay goes :)

I just won a bid at the Springhill Suites right on the beach at Pensacola Beach, FL for Sept. 28 for $45 through Priceline. Like Disneysteve said they're all identical so I'm curious if y'all will like it (hopefully!). It should come with complimentary breakfast--a pretty good perk if you ask me :)

You definitely won't be disappointed in a SpringHill Suites at that price. We've stayed at 3 or 4 different ones at this point (we're Marriott Reward members). The entire chain is only a couple of years old so the hotels are all pretty new and from what I've seen thus far, virtually identical.

They put out a nice spread for breakfast. The rooms are clean, modern and nicely laid out. Our only complaint is that they aren't true suites since there is no door between the living room and bedroom.

But for $45 or $55/nite, I wouldn't even complain about that.

Have a nice stay.

It's a nice hotel but cramped in the room. The continental breakfast is great though.

FFerret... I just returned from Sringhill suites on P. beach.. You will love it... clean good and very nice.. wonderful waffles you make your self for breakfast! YOU STOLE this one. One thing... be VERY CAREFUL if the red flags are up on the beach.. stay out of the water. We had 3 people drown there in one day.. 2 are still lost. You will be pleased with this hotel.

oh my God
oh my God!!!

yikes!!!!

that's awful!
Why won't people take warnings seriously? I was born on Galveston Island and that sort of thing happens all the time :(

Thanks so much for the warning, Melynny--and I really appreciate your review! Mmmmm....waffles :)
We're going to head from Houston birght and early to try and reach there before sundown so my little kids (3 and 5) could get some beach time in. I've never been to Florida before :)

I just called their 1800 number to see what kind of room I got--they said ISLAND VIEW w/ 2 double beds and sofa bed. Do you think we can see the gulf from there?

Do they give you enough towels to take some down to the beach?

Well, it sounds like you have a room that does not have a balcony. It looks out to the front of the hotel. You will be able to see the intracoastal waterway.. the island is not that wide at the point where the hotel is. There's much much more action going on in that water any way, since it's protected. I would ask for one on the highest floor, that way you'll have a good view. We had a 1st floor room at the senior rate of 127.00. We did have a balcony, but it looked out onto the houses on the left of the hotel and if we leaned really really far over the railing, you could see the gulf.

We just asked for towels at the check in desk and they gave us all we needed. This place has 3 pools! one is very shallow with a zero level entry. The others are free form and very tropical feeling. there's a nice hot tub also. There is a small bar near the pool. Again we loved the breakfast: waffels, yogurt, bagels, krispy cremes, toast, oatmeal, fruit, fruit salad, a few danish, coffee, water, orange and apple juice. There's parking under the building, this keeps your car cool. There is a tom Thumb convience store within walking distance. There are beach rentals, 22.oo per day for 2 chairs and an umbrella or 37.00 for 2 days.. hope this helps.

Melynny--
Thanks so much again for the info :)
I sent you a PM--I feel like I'm hijacking this thread!
