Has anyone ever stayed here before. We got a 2 bedroom 2 bath, full kitchen, 1200 sq. feet through my MIL's timeshare. It cost us 49.00 for 7 nights. Is it far from Disney? Is it difficult to get there from Orange Lake? How are the rooms, pool, etc. Any insight would be helpful. We don't want to get there and be sorely disappointed!!
Thanks!

$49 for all 7 nights - or $49 per night...

Anyway this is a pretty wonderful resort.

lots, and lots to do.

It is not close to WDW - but not far either.

Plan on doing some stuff around the resort some of your days.

I can't really help, but we will be going there also in Jan 2005. I have never stayed there but my parents have and they loved it. I don't really have any specifics on it, but it is suppose to be nice. 7 pools, 8 restaurants, etc. I don't know if you have children, but there is a pool area there called Splash Lagoon with a water slide and fountains that recently opened. If you go to www.orangelake.com, there are some good pictures of the resort.
I would also love to hear anyones experience there!

We are paying 49.00 for the whole week! We do have 2 boys. They will be 4 1/2 and 6 1/2 when we go. We are going the first week in December of next year. I'm glad to hear that this resort has some good reviews!

We stayed there a few years ago and thought it was a really nice resort. If you take the Sherberth Road shortcut, it's really not that far from WDW.

The short cut mentioned above:

Depending on where you are in the resort (i.e. North Village) you may want to exit the resort through the back gate.

From 192 turn LEFT onto Black Lake Road

Black Lake Road ends at Sherberth Road

Turn LEFT onto Sherberth Road --which turns into Disney property

At the first light turn RIGHT (follow signs to wherever you are going)

If you miss Black Lake Road, continue down 192 to Sherberth Road and turn LEFT onto Sherberth from 192.

I think you're saying your MIL owns a timeshare week and she's letting you use her banked week for the guest exchange fee of $49. Right?

Nice MIL!!! :)

yes, it is a banked week. She and her husband own 4 weeks. They pay every year on these, and they are lucky if they take one week every 2 years to use for themselves. They don't want to sell them-who knows why??? But we have used several of their weeks that they were going to lose. Bad for them, good for us!!

Thanks for the info on the shortcut to the person who replied!!!!

I have a step-mom like that, 4 weeks and not able to use them. She gave 2 to her daughter, but we have been to 6 different places with RCI on weeks she doesn't want to sell.

But I digress, you should get a detailed map of Orlando thru the AAA so you can see the shortcut to WDW from Orange Lake. It is called Sherberth Rd., and it takes you right by AK on property. Saves you driving on 192. Btw, my step-brother has 2 weeks at Orange Lake, and he will never go anywhere else. They love it, and they aren't even Disney people.
