It says it's about a mile away from the park. No problem, we'll just drive to the park. I have heard that this Hyatt doesn't compare to the others. Would like to hear from some people who have stayed there. I can't complain too much because we are using our Hyatt rewards to stay there for free (except for the $12 a day parking) and we won't be in the room much.

Haven't actually stayed there, but heard something about the north tower under construction. It was referred to as the Tower of Terror.

Don't quote me on this, but you might check with the hotel about the construction. I have heard that people frequently get $25-$40 per night there from priceline.com

I learned this info on a board called bidding for travel.com

I cannot comment on construction, but I ca tell you I have gotten the rooms at $27 on priceline and paid $15 - $25 extra to upgrade to a suite each time.

We used the shuttle and were quite pleased.

Well if we like it, that's good to know. I looked on Travelocity and the rooms were going for between $150 and $205. I wonder if we can pay for an upgrade on a free room--or request another room if it's in the tower of terror, :D . I won't tell my kids that's what they call it--they are too scared to go on the ride. Also, I have never used priceline. How do you do it? Do you request a certain hotel or do they just give you one that matches your preferences?

Priceline.com is based on a bidding system. You bid for a class of hotel within a certain area. I usually get Hyatt Regency Alicante on my bids, but last time I got Doubletree.

Bidding for Travel

Bidding For Travel is a handy website to assist with the bidding process. It has saves me tons of money.

Year2Late,

Wow, thanks for the great link. I hope everyone sees this. Now if we want to get away for the weekend without paying an arm and a leg, we can use this as an option.

I got the Hyatt for $44 on Priceline last September (it was one of the 3 start hotels -- whatever the highest rating is for the DL area). We have the Hyatt frequent stayer card (sorry, I forget the "official" name of it!), and used it at check-in...looks like it got us on the special floor, I think the 14th, overlooking the atrium. We really liked it a lot! It was in a nice area too. I actually think it was about 2 miles away, but like one of the previous posters said, the shuttle was great. It is shared with a couple of hotels across the street, but it really didn't take long to stop there, and you're the first one off when coming back from the parks.

We would definitely stay there again, especially for the price, even with the $12 parking! (Staying at HoJo would've cost us more!)

My only word of advice is to call or email them and ask for a north tower room. The room is the south tower are very dirty and not what I would call 3*, motel 6 rooms are nicer. The hotel common areas are very nice and it was great having a starbucks in the lobby (though the prices were a bit higher, about $0.50) then your standard starbucks).
