Anyone Stayed at Doubletree

Has anyone ever stayed at the Doubletree on hotel Plaza Blvd? We're staying at the poly for 3 nght/ cruise for 4 and want to stay an extra two days somewhere close (not necessarily Disney hotel). It's DH, DD (7), and DD(7). I was thinking that after the cruise a suite might do us good, but I was wondering about the pool, and realtive ease of getting to places. Any help is appreciated.

We have stayed at doubletree downtown disney before and the hotel is very nice... not anything spectacular, but close by, and the rooms are large! We had a seperate living room area and a bedroom set apart by accordian doors. There is also a mini kitchen area including a refrig, microwave, and sink.
The pool is nice and it is close by to all disney attractions. We had a car which made it easier to travel to resorts and parks. The bus transportation here is not that frequent.
Overall, I would say it was a great value for a suite in the disney area!

we stayed at doubletree a few years ago after a stay at the poly-decided to extend our stay for a few days and thought we would save some$ and have more space--we did save and we did indeed have more space but i dont think it was worth it with kids--the rooms are very clean and large-however i found the whole place lacked any type of atmosphere--i also thought the hotel was very dark--especially the corridors--we didnt use the pool during our stay as we hopped over to the water parks--we enjoyed that --the bus service to the parks was tough though and very crowded--if at all possible i prefer to stay onsite where i can walk or have monorail service to the parks--makes a big difference with little ones
