Has anyone used their points to stay at the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs? If so, what did you think of the resort? We will be in Colorado Springs for 1 night and are considering using our points to stay there. The only problem I see is that 1 night will not be enough time.

We've never stayed on points but have paid for a room several times and it is a beautiful place to stay. We try to go once a year for a special night without the kids.

We go to Colorado Springs and stay at the Broadmoor for about 5 days every August. Absolutely beautiful. The resort looks out at a lake and the mountains including Cheyenne Mountain where NORAD is based as well as the Will Rogers Shrine, which chimes every 15 minutes. The air is crisp and cool and clean and it is one of my favorite places on earth. They have a wonderful pool and the service is better than Disney. Almost everyone will say good morning to you as you walk the grounds, from the people in suits to the people pulling weeds. You will not be sorry for spending time there. The resort has a very small movie theater, fireplaces on the patios. My favorite thing to do is just sit around the lake and look at the shrine and mountains. There's no place else that I've ever felt so much at peace. They have the best spa there also. It has been renovated and I can't wait to try it out again in a couple of months. The Broadmoor main building is where the most quaint rooms are with the best views. It was built in the early 1900s and has alot of history. They have spent millions renovating it.

There are a number of things to do in the area. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, drive up to Pikes Peak and look down through the clouds, Old Colorado City with unique shops, the Air Force Academy, the Olympic training center, Manitou Springs (another unique old town with shops), Garden of the Gods (a beautiful red rock area). 45 minutes north is one of the largest outlet malls in Castle Rock. Denver is about an hour north. Lots to do there. But my favorite thing is just taking in the sights around the Broadmoor. And yes, you should stay more than 1 day, but if that's all you have, you should sample it. Anything else you want to know?

I agree with goofy4dvc. The Broadmoor is one of the world's great resort hotels. It's up to you to decide whether to stay there for points or cash; it depends on which you have more of lying around!

When you first walk into the Broadmoor you might think, hey, I've been in Hyatts that have more glitter than this. But it doesn't take long for the quality of the service and breadth of the activities to win you over. You could spend 5 days, never leave the grounds, and never run out of things to do. And to top it off, Colorado Springs is crammed full of nifty activities (although my family prefers riding the cog railway up Pike's Peak to driving it, which can take a year off the life of your car).

I took the cog train up Pike's Peak about a year ago - it was a great experience! Beautiful scenery - especially "Inspiration Point." It's a must-do for me if I ever get back that way again.

The Broadmoor is a very nice resort. I would stay there again without hesitation!

Thank you for all of your responses. The Broadmoor was featured on Great Hotels yesterday and it does look beautiful.

I saw Great Hotels' show on the Broadmoor and I can tell you that it is MUCH better in person. The show didn't do it justice.

My DW and I stayed there 10 years ago as part of a fall trip throughout CO. At the time, I thought it was a beautiful hotel but the rooms were not that well appointed for what we paid. The hotel grounds definitely made up for it tho. There is so much to do around Colorado Springs you would need a full week there. Unfortunately we had only 3 days left to explore Co. Springs. We took the cog railway up Pikes Peak like everyone else here also. You shouldn't be disappointed.

The resort finished a MAJOR renovation about 6 months ago. Room quality shouldn't be a problem. I also seem to remember an earlier, smaller refurbishment after GBRFAN's visit.

Our favorite place to eat at the Broadmoor is the Garden room in the Tavern restaurant. The Charles Court and Penrose Room are VERY nice, but more 'fancy' than we usually go for.
