We are thinking of staying in the WL junior suite and there might be a few nights when DH & I would opt for the sleeper sofa rather than risk waking my sister and 3yo neice. Has anyone actually slept on one of these? I've slept on others in the past with miserable results and want to get an idea before we commit to the room.

thanks - Laurie

Sleeper sofas are the same everywhere, uncomfortable! They can be put up with for a night or two when you are visiting your in-laws, BUT, who wants to sleep on one after being on your feet in the parks all day?

I think I'll agree with Bob, DH and I slept on the one in a Wilderness Cabin a couple years ago, and it was not very comfortable.

hi: we're dvc members and are familiar with the sleeper sofas used there. so far the people in my family who have slept on them without complaint are: mom (age 74 the last time), and kids including nieces and nephews from their teens and twenties. none of them had that bad a problem with the sofa. i understand some heavier people have a bit of a problem with the mattress, but no one has really complained to us.

We did one year in a one bedroom at OKW; we wanted to get the kids to bed, so we stayed up later and slept on the sleeper sofa. The first nights were very uncomfortable...after a few days in the parks, we were so exhausted from lack of sleep and parks, we did not care and slept fine (but not because of those "comfortable" sleeper sofas but because of exhaustion)!!!!!!!

wdwnut....People very seldom complain about the sleeping arrangements their hosts provide for them...At least I've never complained to my MIL.....lol

Just my little ole 2 cents. We have been DVC members for over 10 years now and started off using sleeper sofas at the various DVC resorts. Nobody in my family ever got a good night's sleep on one of those things! In our opinion they are very uncomfortable, but I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't mind them at all. My family just cannot sleep on them. It really is a matter of very personal opinion.

My children slept on them for the first time this year (WL) and would rather stay at OKW so they can have a bed (studio).

They thought the sleeper was SO uncomfortable, that we called for a solution - and they brought the "egg carton" sponge mattress cover. When we went to put it on, we discovered that someone had put the mattress on upside down. Between correcting that problem and adding the "egg carton", they slept more comfortably. I think next time, we will ask for two sets of egg cartons.

Thank you to all the voices of experience. It is kind if what I thought people would say but wanted to hear it to believe it. I was hoping the way it is hyped "and a sleeper sofa to sleep six in a room" that maybe Disney used better mattresses :D

We'll probably still go with the junior suite b/c I think it will suit our needs best but DH and I will only plan on using the sleeper if we're flat out exhausted!! :o

I stayed at Boardwalk villas in a studio, one queen bed and one double sleeper with my husband and 6 year old daughter. I slept on the sleeper for about 3 nights with my daughter and I was pleasantly surprised. It WAS comfortable. I have a sleeper at home and I think it's very uncomfortable, so I was dreading the experience but like I said, I was very pleasantly surprised. So I guess it may depend on the resort.

How does the sleeper sofa differ from the day bed? Five of us we will be at the Polynesian, and one of has to sleep on the day bed.

The poly has a twin bed size "couch" with loose pillows to make up the back which could be moved to make it into an additional bed for one person. Some of the resorts have actual sleeper sofas that I guess you would have to remove all the cushions and pull out the bed and I think (but don't know) it is a queen size bed.

I remember seeing the "day bed" at the Poly but we didn't really use it so I don't know how comfortable it would be. Maybe someone else could help you out.

We stayed one night in the WL Junior Suite and my DH and I had to sleep on the sleeper sofa. All I can say is yuk, yuk, yuk...We were going to have to sleep there all week since we had others with us. It was so bad that we all decided to move to two connecting rooms so everyone had a bed. WL was wonderful and didn't charge us any extra. We slept much better.
