Anyone stay offsite & eat at WDW resorts?

We are staying at Cypress Pointe which is near Downtown Disney. I would like to to make ADR's for us to eat at 1900 Park Fare for the Cinderella dinner. I was just wondering if anyone has done this recently. Will we have to pay for parking ( we are renting a car) at the Grand floridian? Also, is it difficult to get on to the WDW property when you are offsite? I am just making myself crazy trying to plan all of this! Any ideas would be great!

It's way too easy staying off site and eating at resorts. We did it three times in early March. We were staying in our timeshare off Turkey Lake Road and ate twice at Jiko (AKL) and a breakfast at Pepper Market (CSR).

We had no problems going through the guard gates. We just told them we're staying off site, but eating at the resort. They asked for the driver's ID, nothing more.

Everything was extremely easy to find. Just follow the signs to your resort dining area, then follow the signs back to DTD.

This was our first time staying off site AND eating at different resorts. I found it much easier than taking a bus from your WDW hotel over to another park or the TTC, then taking yet another bus to the resort where you want to dine (then doing that all again when you're finished with your meal). Just hop in your car when it's time to eat, drive over, done. Easy-peasy!

No you do not have to pay for parking (unless you valet at the hotel). When you get to the MK toll plaza, just tell them you have Ressies at GF and they will let you through. The only thing with GF is that the guest parking is across the street. There is no charge for it, but you might find paying the few dollars for valet to be easier (we always do at GF).

It is very easy to get onto property and even easier to find your way around once there. Being such a huge tourist area the signage is very abundant...

We did this in November...stayed offsite at a Hampton Inn and made ADRs as if we were staying on property. We rented a car and had our APs, so parking at the parks was free. We ate at Jiko, California Grill, Kona Cafe, Spoodles, Flying Fish, Trails End--all of our meals were on property. We just told the parking attendant we were eating in the restaurant, showed them our ID and they were very gracious. We ate in the parks at Brown Derby, Le Cellier, Marrakesh--Eating at the restaurants is the highlight of our trip!

Yeah I've done it several times. As long as you have ID like the other posters have said, you'll be fine eating wherever you want to. Happy eating,
