We're doing a split trip in April (Disney/beaches) and are thinking about staying in Treasure Island. I had heard it is a nice area for families and am curious if anyone has stayed there or is familiar with the area. I would love some feedback before committing to the area.

Thanks in advance!

Stayed there a few times. Last time was about 8 yrs ago. We stayed at the Bilmar resort and loved it. Had the beach almost to ourselves. All rooms face the gulf and the sunsets are spectacular!
No too many places to eat or shop there though.

We have done it 5 time in the last 7 years and we love it!!!!!! Our 3 boys love going there. It is very relaxing! We usually visit Fort DeSoto Park, Tarpon Springs and Lowery Pary Zoo in Tampa. The beaches are beautiful.

I would highly reccomend it.

We stayed at the Bilmar last year after visiting WDW. The hotel is showing its age, but I would still recommend it. The views are fabulous and the rooms have a small kitchenette. There is a bar/restaurant below the hotel that was very good. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As the PP said, there is not too much to do in Treasure Island, but it is nice to visit if you simply want to relax and chill out on the beach. There are a few touristy-type beach shops and restaurants, but nothing over the top. My DDs were 5 and 1 when we went and they loved it.

(If I can figure out how to load pictures I will post them!)
